Royal dish doesn't talk about these two a lot because they are just a married couple settled in their lives. Kind of boring really. Surprised the chalet story was even made public but there seems to be a politician that brought it up.

It got boring when it seemed clear that Fred isn't going to divorce her any time soon. I suspect everybody has been distracted by Megxit.

They shut down the Meghan and Harry board completely, long before Megxit. M&H are forbidden topics there now.

Oh, that conversation was going on in Royal Family News for a while.
The Luxembourg thing is intriguing in that I don't know how such a tiny place maintains so many royals (see Liechtenstein also). Most of them don't even seem to reside in Lux and none of the family is that interesting. Also I think some may be distracted by the fact that the Hereditary Grand Duke and his wife are finally expecting an heir after quite a few years of being married. Babies and weddings are usually the perfect distractions from scandals.
Mary and Fred? I think the Danes have been turning a blind eye to Fred being a drunk and Mary spending tons of money on clothes and (alleged) plastic surgery for years. Mary did her duty with four kids and shows up to more royal duties than Fred (who counts sporting events like running marathons as "duty"). I don't love her but she does "work" as it's expected of her.

Those are gorgeous pictures of her. I'm kind of neutral on Mary, some people absolutely love her and others (like the up thread mentioned Royal Dish) think she makes Meghan Markle look like QE2. I will say there seems to be a lot more for her birthday than there was for Fred's and loads of pictures released but I think she has done good work for and on behalf of Denmark (said as a non Danish person).
It will be interesting to see her and Kate together by themselves. I do wonder how Mary and Alexandra (Joachim's ex wife) would have worked together. Alex left as Mary was entering but she was the original star of the DRF in that generation and wife of the 2nd son so it would have been interesting to see the different threads of that. By the time Marie came along Mary was well established as CP.

Mary does a fair amount of work as a patron for a lot of causes, including anti-bullying and LGBT issues. She may like clothes, but she gives value for money from what I can tell, and manages to do it without scandal.

Lovely photos of them both, and I covet her dress. Gorgeous.

So as mentioned in the Prince Harry thread, there's drama in the DRF regarding titles. Queen Margarethe announced yesterday that her 4 grandchildren by her younger son Joachim and both his wives were losing their HH Pric/ss Til (to) Denmark and were instead allowed to use His/Her Excellency Count/ess de Monpezat a title that comes from her late husband. There is some controversy that it is a title that ever existed in France and accusations that Prince Henrik's family made it up but it does now exist as a legal title in Denmark. This has apparently upset the family with both Alexandra (first wife) and Joachim complaining that their children's identities have been taken away from them and that they are all extremely upset. DM (sorry) link which covers all reactions: linkIt seems Joachim knew in May that it was happening but didn't inform his family and was told earlier last week exactly the format. Perhaps he thought he could change his mother's mind. I think it is possible HMTQ's death might have triggered a desire to get it all sorted now rather than leave it to Frederik. I don't think it's a bad thing but it certainly could have been handled better. I feel for them if they felt blindsided (although Jokke could have given them a private heads up) but I do think the weeping and wailing over identity is overdone. They are still extremely privileged kids with pretty much all the advantages in the world. But of course it's bringing this to the fore that there has been somewhat of a rift in the DRF for a while now - Joachim and Marie have basically claimed that they were exiled to Paris - and this has brought it all to the fore in the press again. If Charles ever makes this announcement then he better have his ducks all lined up in a row.
