That is exactly what makes his performance so wonderful. Nicole Kidman was good, but if the audience doesn't believe in Christian and his idealism, the movie just plain wouldn't work. Ewan just brought that earnestness across so beautifully. Which is why I believe that Ewan should have been Oscar-nominated for that role.
Thank you for posting what I was afraid to. The buns strangely sort-of work for him. Hilarious.

Yep, some of my SW fan gals and I are planning on making it into a greeting card and sending it to him. Knowing Ewan, he'd probably have it made into a teeshirt and wear it in public.

That? Would be the most fabulous thing a celebrity has ever done. Ever.

I can imagine other actresses as Satine, but I cannot picture anyone else playing Christian. Honestly, I don't know if either deserved an Oscar nom for the movie, but I will never understand why NK was nominated, and he wasn't. At least a freakin' Golden Globe nomination--come on. Two new updates on EwanMcGregor.net: an article in CIAK and pictures from a Guys and Dolls after party.

This hurts me. Subjected?? Subjected??!! Bah I say! That's my childhood you're scorning! I don't think we can be friends Shanmac. Is it sad that I just blew my remaining money ordering the Ewan McGregor Polar Bear documentary off of PBS? I mean I probably should save the money for I don't know tuition or something, but AdorableEwan! Playing the guitar and getting sentimental over Polar Bears! How could I resist?

You know, I could kick myself. That was on PBS the other day, and see, they said it was in Canada, and I had thought the one he did was in Northern Scotland or something, so I didn't watch it, and now I really regret it. Dammit. Better be on again.

Or you could just order it. Like me. So I would feel less guilty...
Who am I kidding, I'm not sorry at all. I want to watch my adorable Ewan chillin' with polar bears, and I want to watch it now!
Does anyone else watch the intro to the actors bios on the second Moulin Rouge disc where he and Nicole dance all the damn time? It's so pretty!

It's not the movies I think I hated so much, just the fact that I associated them with my brother, who spent the better part of his childhood tormenting me. Yeah, the footage is gorgeous. Yay for DVD extras!

Better be on again. Poop. I didn't know tht wa on recently. I've never seen it. Let's keep a watch out for it and send a yell when we find it. It's not sad at all...of course I am a bit biasedHeh. But I am still chomping at the bit to get my own copy of the Long Way Round dvd. My brother just called me from London yesterday and I have asked him to buy it and bring it home. I could just order it from Amazon UK but I really want him to watch it as well since he loves his motorcycles, and he actually likes EM's movies, even Moulin Rouge. If I were a truly obsessed fan, I would command him to stand outside of the Picadilly Theatre to get me a McGregor autograph, but I am not quite that far gone. ...and he said no, anyway.

Found the Jay Leno clip from March online yesterday. He seemed like a genuinely nice, smart guy. Even better? The expression on his face every time Nicole Richie said something inane. You could see him thinking, "I can't believe she's such an idiot."
Also, as a person who once owned a cockapoo (as well as a labradoodle), I'm with him on renaming the breed "cockadoodle."
He's one of the few actors who interviews well and doesn't come off as a total dick. He was a cutie.
