I agree she sold out. Her previous album didn't sell anything so she went for the oversexualized image, singing mindless R&B/Pop ditties.
I've only heard Maneater and Promiscuous from her new album and I think both songs are horrible with terrible repetitive lyrics. I won't be tempted to buy her CD.

ITA. She bugs the shit out of me, especially since the John Lennon Tribute concert where she covered Instant Karma. The way she sang, *shudder* We ALL! WOO!SHINE! ON! WOO! Like the MOON! WOO! the stars and the SUN! WOO! yelling in her hoarse, so-not-hot voice. I hated her for her stupid bird song anyway, but hearing her butcher a Lennon song.... not cool.

Well, as far as I can tell, she's always been marketed as "eccentric" (or flaky, if you like).
I personally think she can be really talented if she tried. More stuff like "Turn off the Light" would absolutely RULE (although one must admit it seemed like a precursor to "Promiscuous", a song I think is like the lame version of "Hips Don't Lie"...come on, the one lyric is "after midnight/morning will come/and the day will see/if you're gonna get some").
So, yeah, disappointed with "Loose" in general so far.

Well I'm in the minority here but I like "Promiscuous," it's great to dance to and there's nothing wrong with that. Why is it selling out when someone makes a CD that people actually want to buy?

"Promisuous" is on high rotation at the moment so it is fun to sing to when I'm stuck in traffic in my CD-/mp3-playerless car. I didn't like her Jewel/Natalie Imbruglia/Deep Forest hippy phase.

Nelly's album leaked to the net a couple of weeks ago, and I'm loving just about every song on it, including the the bonus songs. Promiscous is ok, but doesn't really compare to the other songs on the album. It's very diverse in styles. This album is more true to her origins in music (she was in some hip-hop group long ago) and reminds me of her debut a little. She really stepped up the vocals. Don't even recognize her on Showtime, there are two Spanish sung songs (No Hay Igual and Te Busque featuring Juanes). I don't even speak the language and Te Busque is my favorite song of the moment. Five songs didn't make the cut (Undercover, I Am, What I Wanted, Let My Hair Down, Somebody To Love).
Forklore didn't do well in the States, but apparetly sold pretty good overseas. Maneater has just topped the UK charts.
I personally think neither Beyonce and Christina's upcoming albums will come close to Nelly's.

Yeah, Folklore never caught on here, but I loved the song Try from that album. It was big over in Europe when I was there and it got me hooked on the rest of the CD.

I just love her. I think she's a quirky type of artist that will never be true to one style. I haven't gotten her latest CD but I loved her last two, so it's a good bet I'll like this one.

I adore "Try" and hate when music is better appreciated overseas. The US is so picky when it comes to who they think is better in the music field.
