OK, did a search and didn't see a thread for her. Neeeever been a big fan-- I had a roommate that played the "I'm like a bird..." song on continual loop for an entire school year and I was not cool with that.

Then I saw her on SNL a few weeks back and was bored by her performance, which seemed like it was trying to be sexual in a 1980s sort of way.

But it's this that really makes my blood boil... Gee, I'm so glad she escaped the "brainwashing" of feminism to go on to sing songs about cheap sex with random guys in clubs... she loves men y'all! She can't be a feminist anymore!

I really liked her last album, Folklore, and how she infused some traditional Portuguese stuff on it, but her latest single does nothing for me and I haven't even bothered to see what the rest of her album sounds like.

She never struck me as the sharpest knife in the drawer, and those comments pretty much prove that.

I listen to a lot of hip hop and was familiar with Promiscuous, but had no idea until last week that Nelly Furtado sang it. Color me surprised. It didn't even sound like her and the style seems so different than her previous stuff that I never in a million years would have guessed that was her song.

Sadly, she's just one of a long line of modern female singers to "sell out" and go from being feminist to over-sexualized. It's just a matter of time before she's displayed on the cover of Maxim with her ass hanging out.

That "Get Your Freak On" remix she did with Missy Elliot was a crime against nature and humanity. It's like she went into the recording studio drunk and just rambled and then the record company released it. And the bird song can kiss my ass, I hated it so much.

I can't stand this girl's singing or speaking voice. The cliche "nails on a chalkboard" sum it up nicely.

I never understood why seemingly everyone thought she was so great. The bird song sucks, Get Your Freak On sucks and her new song sucks even worse. Basically I think she really sucks.

She is massively over-rated. I am so sick of hearing how she should be one of today's top artists. Oh, hell no. She can't sing, her lyrics are completely pedestrian, she's annoying and stupid. Plus, she seems so desperate for fame, she'd do anything.

I do like her duet with Juanes - Fotographia not the new one.

I saw an interview where it was said her parents named her after 1970s Soviet gymnast Nelli Kim, which I of course found interesting.

I really enjoyed her "Folklore" and "Whoa, Nelly" albums, too. I've met her personally and seen her in concert and she puts on a really good show.

The girl has got skin to die for. Die. For. Her eyes are like the sea and I envy that about her.

True, her new single is completely off of her previous vocal styles, but I really think she's just trying to reinvent or swing down another musical path. Do I think it's the right one? Nah, not so much. Although, I agree about the song Promiscuous to have a kickin' summer beat that I'll rock to through September.
