It happens - people just kind of zone out sometimes. I was in downtown Seattle a few years ago standing at a corner waiting for the “walk” sign on a busy street. The woman in front of me (an acquaintance of the friend that I was visiting) was standing on the edge of the sidewalk and not paying attention to her surroundings. I saw the bus coming, and it was clear she did not. I grabbed her by the back of her jacket and gently, but firmly pulled her back. Even with my assistance, the bus missed her by mere inches at full speed. She would have been killed – I have no doubt. She turned around and looked at me dazed, and said, “Thank you – I didn’t even see it coming.” I’m sorry for the Culkins – it’s a terrible tragedy.

Yeah, I've had to do that with my friends on occasion, and they're definitely not mentally unstable or anything close to it. They just...zone out.
So terrible for the Culkins...their family seemed pretty close-knit (the siblings, anyway).

I pulled someone off a curb last week. Not uncommon. Horrible horrible thing for his family to go through.
