They went on vacation a few years ago with the Hemworths and Damons, so they are connected. Big time. Wait, Chris Hemsworth is friends with Matt Damon? That seems as random a connection as John Krasinski and all these people. None of them are stars I follow closely, though, nor are they huge famewhores thrust in my face, so I can see how I wouldn't know that. Huh, the Hemsworth-Patakys and Krasinski-Blunts were guests at the Damon-Barroso vow renewal last year. And apparently John Krasinski had a running prank war with Jimmy Kimmel, so I can see how he'd be the kind of guy who'd really hit it off with George Clooney. (OT: Oh my god, Elsa Pataky was in a 3-year relationship with Adrien Brody? And left him for Olivier Martinez? Wowwww, girl liked them attractive-yet-icky before she settled down and married attractive-and-not-icky.)

I'm not a fan of The Office and I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't even know who John Krasinsky was until recently. So it's interesting to me to see how really well connected he is. He looks like such an unassuming kind of guy. So non-Hollywood. And then he has this beautiful, exotic, British wife, whom to me is a total chameleon - she rarely looks the same twice. And BAM, I'm totally intrigued and jealous of their lifestyle.

He's always been connected. A guy I know went to high school with him and B.J. Novak in Newton, according to him John is "exactly like Jim" and the only reason him and B.J. have careers is because of B.J.'s dad's connections. William Novak is a pretty well-known celebrity ghostwriter.

I don't know. Something about him sort of bugs me. Like he's smug. Or a know-it-all.
I love Emily Blunt though.

FWIW, I have a friend who hangs with them, and he reports that Emily is super-cool & John is a weird social-climber, who always wants to befriend the biggest star on a project.

John has annoyed me ever since him and Matt Damon wrote and starred in that horrible Promised Land movie about fracking. It was the smuggest movie I've ever seen.

I thought Promised Land was ok. I do think fracking is pretty serious, which is why I wasn't completely bothered by the self-righteousness.
But it's interesting that the parts of the movie I really liked were the scenes highlighting Frances McDormand and Matt Damon's characters' relationship. But the rest: eh. I just felt like I wanted to punch John Krasinski in the face repeatedly in that movie. I think Matt Damon can pull off smug in a way John can't.

I agree with their point of view on fracking but the smug douchiness of the movie made me reconsider agreeing with them. The only characters I liked in the whole movie were Frances McDormand and that guy she flirted with. They made all the townspeople out to be morons and John's character was so ridiculously over the top and evil that I couldn't take it seriously.
