I'm not surprised that they had him on their podcast -- he was able to get the entire Office cast on SGN this week to help with an Office-themed wedding. And Jenna Fischer did seem to be a bit know-it-all in that blip on SGN, too. So I echo your sentiment, bluemuna!

Interestingly this podcast is making me like Angela Kinsey more and Jenna Fischer less. I don’t know what it is, but I just find her a little bit grating and know-it-all-ly. And also feels like Jenna has some very protected bits on the show, and when Angela tried to bring one in (using the timestamps), Jenna jumped on that one and sort of stole it from her. But she still gets to do her fast facts bit at the beginning. Totally agree! Jenna seems very bossy and her voice is grating, but Angela is a joy and seems so normal. They repeat each other too much as well which drives me nuts. I love how John name-dropped Clooney, it's like dude, we all know your friends with famous people. I loved him as Jim, but sometimes I think he's trying too hard or is faking being so nice. Like he's always 'on'.

Sports Feud John, a Boston Boy, and Jenna, a St. Louis girl, feuded it out in social media and on NBC a year ago, this month over the Bruins vs. Blues Finals. And for the record, St. Louis Blues won for the first time in their 50 years. #LGB #PlayGloria

Krasinski has apparently sold the show "Some Good News" to CBS/Viacom for a boatload of money. He will no longer be the host and I don't think future episodes are going to be broadcast on youtube. Apparently, the idea for the show is one he had for a long time and the pandemic inspired him to get it going.
I got a lot out of the show on youtube, but I have no plans to watch its new iteration, wherever and whenever that may be. Everything I like about the show in its current format will not translate to TV, and it's filling a need during the pandemic that won't exist for me when the pandemic has subsided. My local news already co-opted the concept and has a segment where they show people's cutesy home videos. No. Do not want to see.
It also changes my perception of the show a little bit knowing that it was a business venture from the start, and not just something Krasinski came up with as a way to contribute during a crisis. He created a successful show and made a lot of money and that's all good for him, but I'm not jazzed about the capitalist element.
It was good while it lasted, SGN.

It was funny with John and Stephen Merchant, and it worked as a bit sketch on The Tonight Show because it capitalized on Jimmy Fallon’s strengths. But as a stand alone show it lost all its charm. I can’t imagine this being any different.

It's really gross how everything has to be monetized.

He played on the need for uplifting content in the pandemic to sell a pilot, essentially. Slimy AF. The National Theatre is streaming free content on YouTube that you usually have to pay for. Seth Rudetsky has created a Zoom chat show for theater geeks that's almost daily at this point. Patrick Stewart is reading Shakespeare sonnets. All for free with nothing in it for them except sharing content and engendering good will (I made a donation to the National Theatre in appreciation). Ryan Reynolds and James McAvoy have been fundraising like mad for first line responders in Canada and the NHS. I really can't stand John Krasinski and he keeps giving me more ammunition.

If he donated what he made off the sale to first responders or relief agencies I might change my mind but right now this does feel sleazy. It was a good effort but his good guy persona always felt a little too put on.

I liked the show when it seemed like something he put together to spread some cheer and make use of his freetime. The fact that it was obviously homemade, complete with the sign made by his daughters, was part of the charm and awwww factor. I hope he donates the money. After the Office, A Quite Place, and Jack Ryan, he must be very financially secure and can afford to put the proceeds from this back into the communities of the people who provided him with the content.

I don't feel like Krasinski is required to donate the money. He came up with a successful TV show idea and that's a legitimate thing to sell. But at the same time, I was waiting for him to make an announcement that some kind of donation was going to be involved in all this, and I'm disappointed because it doesn't look like that's going to happen. He posted what sounded like a sign-off on instagram and did not mention a word about any charities. To be fair, I don't think he has given a single interview about the show. He didn't go around telling everyone that he was doing this out of the goodness of his heart. He didn't collect any accolades for what a great guy he is or how great the show is. I'm sure he was contacted with interview requests, but he didn't give any (at least none that I saw). So it's not like he pulled the wool over anybody's eyes as to what the show was about. People clicked on it and watched it only because they enjoyed it. But it's still slightly tainted to me now. There was one episode I missed that I was planning to watch at some point, and I don't feel the need now. Ug. This is like Lip Sync Battle all over again. It was funny with John and Stephen Merchant, and it worked as a bit sketch on The Tonight Show because it capitalized on Jimmy Fallon’s strengths. But as a stand alone show it lost all its charm. I can’t imagine this being any different. One of the things I liked about the youtube version is that it was only 15-20 minutes long, which was just right. I would not have been interested in a half hour commitment.
