Gaga can only wish she was as cool as the fabulous Annie Lennox. Good luck with that, dear.

I never watch the Under Pressure performance from the Freddie tribute because of Annie Lennox. I thought she was rubbish. Obnoxious and howling. I dunno. I am clearly in the minority of kind of looking forward to the Gaga performance. It was definitely lazy planning on their part, but I am going to give her a chance. I am hoping that she is better than Lennox. Different strokes. (Not to be confused with Diff'rent Strokes.) ?

I'm a huge Queen and Freddie fan, and I wasn't jumping up and down at Lennox's tribute performance. It was fine but not the best thing ever. I think the best performance of that entire tribute show was Extreme's Queen medley. They only performed one of their own songs; the rest was all Queen, and it was performed with joy and respect.
I think that Gaga will do a fine job, but they really should have brought more people into it. His many musical collaborators (who are still with us) would have made for one hell of a tribute.

His many musical collaborators (who are still with us) would have made for one hell of a tribute. Imagine the epic noise of Iggy, Eno, Reznor, Jagger, Robert Fripp, Peter Frampton, Rick Wakeman and Tina Turner, backed by Arcade Fire with Tony Visconti on production. If Gaga wants in, she can bang a tambourine in a corner.

Extreme's Queen medley was ABSOLUTELY the high point that day.
Say what you will about Lennox's performance, but the look of stunned disbelief on Bowie's face as she walked out was PRICELESS.

On youtube there's footage of Queen/Freddie performing Under Pressure intercut with footage of Bowie performing his part at the tribute, set to the original song. Somehow they managed to cut Annie Lennox out of it completely, which is fantastic. That part at the end where she was smooching all over Bowie's face was weird and inappropriate.

I thought the best performance of the Freddy Mercury tribute was George Michael doing Somebody to Love. I have to assume Bowie will be getting some major tribute concert in the near future, because if anyone deserves it, it's him.

There is one set for March 31st at Carnegie Hall...it was originally intended as a tribute show but when he died, it was turned into a memorial. I expect much bigger names will be signing on now, as the original lineup included no-one more significant than Cyndi Lauper.

I loved when Robert Plant sang Crazy Litte Thing Called Love. The "ready Freddy" part always chokes me up.
I know nothing about Gaga. I just know I've been listening to the best of Bowie for weeks now and I just can't believe how much of his music was in my life without me even knowing until he was gone.
