I got curious and looked it up and the actual dress ( Alexander McQueen Silk Ruffle Cape Dress, $7295 at Saks) is apparently designed to look like a lampshade. ETA: I just saw a videoclip of her accepting the award and it's better when she's in motion and I could see why she'd pick it. But when she's just standing there, is looks like a ruffly tent. The model in the link above is 5'10" and a size 2, so the proportions are a bit kinder. This is one of the ugliest "dresses" I've ever seen.

I'm not sure why, but when I read- It's a tablecloth!, I read it in Harrison Ford's voice. And that is keeping me laughing. PS, dress is fug.

That dress is ugly and she looks stoned.

Finding evening attire suitable for maternity must be a nightmare. Natalie's far enough along that if she showed up in a snuggie and Uggs I wouldn't blame her. However, the dress she wore is so absolutely hideous that I want to just sit her down and tell her to just stop trying to be a fashion plate in her third trimester and buy something presentable from A Pea in the Pod and be done with it.

Yeah, formal maternity wear isn't fun, but I'v seen a lot of actresses pull it off. That's just a weird smock thing with a frilly cape and it makes her look huge.

What the actual hell is she wearing? And her mouth looks extra pouty.

I can't wait for the chartreuse trend to die. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

1962 called and wants its polyester dress made from a Butterick sewing pattern back.

I sort of like the 1960s effect, although I'm meh on the color. Also, the stiff pose is unintentionally hilarious. Stepford Wife meets Easter Island head.
