Current minor scuttlebutt aside, I just want to say that I am still so surprised and delighted that she so thoroughly and effectively pulled her head out of her own ass. She should give lessons to her fellow celebrities.

I can't remember who told me this, but he said he once asked a friend why the friend keeps dating inappropriately young girls even as the friend himself ages, and the friend told him he can't date women his age because they catch onto his bullshit immediately. It sounds like a conveniently self deprecating excuse, yet it's still believable. I feel like someone told that story on a thread here...maybe ratscabies? Guilty. 😎

She should give lessons to her fellow celebrities. She's clearly matured. A lot of Hollywood doesn't seem to know how to do that (Johnny Depp), but she seems like a solid person that is capable of some self-awareness.

I feel like someone told that story on a thread here...maybe ratscabies? Guilty. 😎 Somebody else on here told a story about how they worked with someone famous in Hollywood who only dates stupid women, or women he sees as stupid, because he has to think all day and wants to go home and not have to worry about stuff. Like a lot of people in Hollywood, Moby, this guy, and Bill Maher (my conservative Aunt and I both hate Bill Maher) are super-liberal, but when it comes to talking to/about women and women's rights/changes. It gets dicey because they may say they're for equality, but a lot of their actions don't show it. I'm glad that Portman is unafraid to call out her own mistakes in the past, and the bullshit she faces in Hollywood.

I definitely remember this conversation. I think it was in Leo's thread. I believe that last heinous quote was from Seth McFarland. ETA: Yep. Found it:

I’m 34 now, on a college campus for school, and I can’t imagine wanting to even hang out with an 18 year old, much less date one. He is so delusional. I’m pretty sure, though, that he’d have more defenders if he was more attractive.

It’s not who I was talking about, but in his world perhaps. That’s my (prob not so) blind item.

Yeah, I remember not being a Seth McFarlane fan before reading that--then that story sealing the deal for me. Maher pisses me off because he claims to be liberal, but he doesn't call his conservative guests out on their bullshit. I mean Larry Wilmore had to tell Milo Yannohcangofuckhimself that he could go fuck himself, repeatedly. While Milo called them all "stupid". Maher said nothing. Maher calls women some terrible names and really is just a piece of shit. I may agree with him, and McFarlane, and probably Moby, politically in theory. But you can't tell me that those guys see my opinion, as a woman over 35, as being as valid as theirs is.

Moby looks like he would faint if a woman over 35 sprayed Windex in his face.
