No, it isn't fair. Clearly, that girl has suffered enough, why should she be put through the torture of singing one of Kara's songs?

After reading a few different versions of this same basic , it is starting to look like it is true that there is trouble in paradise. Sad because they were definitely super in love at one point.

Darn it. Sorry. Linking via mobile phone fail. It was on ibtimes.com.
Yes, the bits and pieces I have picked up over the last couple weeks are that Portia feels ignored, Portia hates that they flip houses and move often, a huge fight occurs, Ellen kicks Portia out of the house, Portia goes to rehab, Ellen moves into a huge new apartment and they put their current house on the market.

Two days ago, Ellen Degeneres tweeted a remarkably tone-deaf photoshopped picture "joke" showing her riding a running Usian Bolt, captioning it with: "This is how I’m running errands from now on. #Rio2016". I suppose it was created as a goodwill humorous nod to Bolt's remarkable Olympic success...but...how could Ellen (or her people) not see the inappropriateness of such an image, no matter how good the intentions? The racism of an image showing a white person "riding" a black person isn't all that subtle or easy to miss. After being called out about the picture on social media, Degeneres offered a pretty unapologetic nonaplogy: "I am highly aware of the racism that exists in our country. It is the furthest thing from who I am."

It's really not that hard to take race relations and history into consideration before cutting and pasting yourself into a picture and posting it online. People pointed out that it's a tone-deaf post. They have a right to react as much as the next person doesn't feel the need to.
It's also more than being offended. A lot of these controversies are teachable moments that wouldn't have to be a big thing if the person was like, "Oh, I get it now. I wasn't thinking. Thanks for pointing that out."

Her reaction to the controversy bugged me more than the image itself. When I first saw the picture I didn't find it offensive, but I am white. When it was pointed out that there are some racial overtones to it, I took some time to think about it and yes, it's a loaded image. Honestly I'm not a fan of Ellen's comedy so I just kind of rolled my eyes at the corniness of it. But she should acknowledge that she offended people.
Most people do not consider themselves racist. Most do not go out of their way to hurt or offend those of another race. Yet, it happens. Especially if you live in a bubble of white privilege. Own up to it and apologize.
