I never liked her. But I dislike her even more now that her stupid morning show, “Wake Up With Whoopi,” is sullying my favorite radio station. Who the hell wants to listen to Whoopi pontificate about “words that aren’t words” or instruct people on etiquette? I do still listen occasionally because I leave the station tuned in for my drive home and yesterday, Whoopi interviewed Sean Hannity, who was shilling his new book. She started out by asking him how he feels about the nastiness of modern debate. Yeah, that’s good, ask one of the chief offenders. He immediately responded with how offensive he finds some Democrats’ statements about Iraq which I won’t reproduce because my head might explode. And I’m thinking, come on, hit him and hit him hard with just one of the five million Republican examples but no, she meekly offers that “both sides are guilty.” Gah! Why do liberals do that!? Why do they try to appease bullies who are going to steamroll right over them? Which of course he did, harping on Kerry’s joke about Bush. Whoopi’s response was to explain the joke and Hannity was like, “how is that funny? Bush went to Yale, he had better grades than Kerry,” and those are some transcripts I’d like to see, and Whoopi was all timid, claiming she didn’t say it was funny, she was just explaining the joke and the real problem is that politicians shouldn’t tell jokes and comedians shouldn’t talk about politics and hmm, maybe comedians shouldn’t try to do interviews either, ya think?
Hate her, hate her, hate her.

I quite like her. I think she was fantastic in The Colour Purple and I have a weird but strong love of sister act. Actually, I find her a very charismatic and watchable actress generally. But being British, I might have been protected from her more annoying side, however. Ididn't hear that interview, obviously, but I do think she'd probably have have sounded worse if she hadn't admitted that both Republicans and democrats have done things no-one is impressed with.

She's my favorite actress, bar none. I LOVE her! She's good in absoulutely everything she's in, and I think she's funny. She has the ability to play characters that could be either black or white, male of female. I don't think she necessarily has to wait around for a black woman part to come forward. My favorite movie of hers is Boys on the Side. I think her love affair with Mary Lousie Parker is so beautiful. Even more beautiful because it's so one sided, and because Parker is not a lesbian. It's poignant and touching and believable. She was great in the Color Purple and Ghost too! 3 completely different performances from the same woman.
I liked her short-lived childrens program where she was the mayor, and I even liked watching her on Hollywood Squares occassionally.
I too, wish liberals would just fight back more. Stop being so weak and go after the stupid arguments the conservatives are spewing! Go after theiir lies! Honestly, I didn't even know she had a radio show, but now I'll have to look for it.
Love her.

I used to love her and thought she was a great actress, (she was great in The Color Purple) and horrible comedian. Then somewhere along the line she lost me. I don't know if it was the Blackface thing she did with Ted Danson, or the way she seemed to really shun Black culture once she hit it big. I don't know, but I started to not like or respect her.
So the other night I was up late and decided to turn on TVOne. Who was on there hosting "Showtime at the Apollo" but Whoopi Goldberg. Whoopi Goldberg! That's about the only gig she can get nowadays. It's funny that in the sunset of her career, she turns to the very people who she didn't give a shit about in her "Sister Act" and "Comic Refief" heyday. Fuck Whoopi.

Honestly, this kind of inflammatory remark really necessary here? I see this insulting stuff often here but if I step in, I'm reminded that this isn't the place for politcal remarks. I agree. Which is why I find this sort of thing obnoxious especially since it's usually allowed to stand when it's disparaging of conservatives.

I waver back and forth about her. When Ghost or The Color Purple comes on, I love her. There are a couple other things that I like her in. But when I think about her hosting the academy awards and donning "white-face" to portray the Queen of England it disgusts me in the same way it would if a white actor/actress put on "black-face" for a laugh. On the other hand, I loved how she openly made fun of that sappy Disney song ("Color of the wind...?") right after Vanessa Williams performed it.
I guess I like her more than I don't like her. But that can change with the breeze.

I'll always have a soft spot for Sister Act. I can't help it.

Me and my grandma both hated her. We used to make fun of her lack of eyebrows.

I was in Egypt two weeks ago and naturally, I went to the museum to see the mummies. One of them looked disturbingly like her...
