Richards is supposed to appear on Letterman tonight to explain his comments.
As if there can be any explanation other than "I'm an a--hole."

Richards is supposed to appear on Letterman tonight to explain his comments. As if there can be any explanation other than "I'm an a--hole." Oh noo... just go quietly into rehab, you're done anyway. The video was disturbing to me because of how many people continued to laugh. The TMZ guy was all over tv spinning it as "the audience was horrified and gasping!" - but did we hear that? I heard way too many laughs for my comfort.

Yes, the laughs are clearly audible. That is very disturbing. Was everyone really drunk? How could anyone laugh at such disgusting remarks?
I wonder if Richards is going to say that he was hammered and didn't realize what he was saying.
How is it that such commentary was on the tip of his tongue?

I think I'd laugh in that situation, just because I'd be so uncomfortable. That's just how some people react to those situations. Its like you don't know what else to do, you recognize that something awful is going on, you try to make a joke out of it? I can't explain the thought process, but it happens.
I want to see how Kramer explains this, it's gonna be good.

At the Laugh Factory, I imagine a lot of people probably thought at first that it was a total set-up of some sort of comedy skit. If I were there, I would probably think it had to be a put on because no way someone famous would be that much of an idiot.
What "Kramer storm" BTW? The show ended ten years ago.

When he pulled out the n-word, I distinctly heard some woman say in a horrified voice: "Oh my god!", and then some shocked mumbling after that. I did hear a few too many laughs for my comfort, though. I would have loudly booed his stupid ass. Hell, I would never have even been there in the first place. Jerry Seinfeld, yes, Kramer, HELL NO!
What an asshole. I don't know that I can boycott Seinfeld itself, because it was too freaking funny, but I know that I will never, ever be able to watch Kramer without thinking: "racist little prick!". That makes me sad. Thanks for ruining one of my favorite shows years after the fact, little prick. I want to go write racist little prick all over his car![/Fast Times at Ridgemont High]

I just saw on The Insider that Jerry Seinfeld is on Letterman tonight addressing the remarks that fucktard Michael Richards made. Why HE is the designated spokesperson for this asshole is beyond me. Unless he flat out says Michael Richards is a worthless loser racist, I've no interest on how Jerry plans on spinning this.

While I don't share his politics, I think Dennis Miller is pretty decent in person. When I was in college he came into the movie theatre where I worked. He was nice, seemed down to earth. I'm at a loss re Richards. Just vile really. And it's also taints the Kramer character now. Yeah, and Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert seem really nice too. Question-someone at another board mentioned that Richards once refused to wear the AIDS ribbon at a function-what was that all about? ETA: the laughs I heard seemed more like nervousness, like, "Oh heehehe...are we really hearing this?"

I thought that was in an episode of Seinfeld. Kramer refuses to wear a ribbon on AIDS day. I don't remember hearing that Michael Richards himself actually did that. Although, at this point, it wouldn't be surprising.

Ugh, I'm just so grossed out by this; I don't know what to say.
He should just apologize and fade away.
