I absolutely love her version of "And I'm telling you I'm not going". It gave me goosebumps.

After doing such an outstanding job in Dreamgirls -- the bar is set so high. I hope her CD is good. And I hope to see her more on the screen -- just wondering what kind of roles she'd play.
I also hope she doesn't succumb to the anorexic look. I think she looks great now.

I haven't seen the movie but can she actually act or just sing with emotion? It'll be interesting to see what her next projects will be.

I saw Dreamgirls back on Broadway and it was one of the best musicals I've ever seen, so I definitely want to see the movie. Plus I never forgave the voting audience for not selecting her as the Idol the year she was on AI. Although it might have given her more options and she didn't have to record a lame Idol first release.

We watched her on AMerican Idol. From the time she auditioned until she was kicked off. We nicknamed her "Boomie" because of her booming voice.
It's so cool to see her go from unknown to a star in 0 to 60 seconds.

I haven't seen Dreamgirls (hmm, haven't seen a movie in a while, actually), but I have seen clips and some of Jennifer's TV appearances, and I've been impressed.
I didn't have a favorite in that AI season. If anyone, maybe I was rooting for George Huff the most. I recognized that she was vocally talent, but it's remarkable how she's gone from looking like a good amateur, kind of rough around the edges at times, on that show to looking like a seasoned pro now. It's clear that she's worked hard at her performing. Independent of any awards she's picking up, she has a lot to be proud of.

Although she wasn't my fav that year on AI (there were several incredible and powerful singers that year-probably toughest comptetition to date IMHO), she was awesome in Dreamgirls!!! When I saw it, people clapped at the end of her solo "And I'm Telling You..". During the credits at the end, people sat around watching as they acknowledged each individual performer and I was sitting there steaming because it seemed like they were blowing her off because they were showing even bit players but not her, but at the veeeeery end, wait around for it!, they dramatically announce "And Introducing......" and then show Jennifer Hudson. People clapped again during that! It was very clear that I wasn't the only one who'd felt (yes, truly) goosebumps during her solos. I was very steamed to read that the producers were pushing Beyonce for the Leading Actress award and Jennifer for the Supporting Actress award. Seems very ironic, after having watched a movie where the heavy girl was pushed into the background to showcase the pretty girl I hope Jennifer gets the professional acknowledgement she deserves. Besides, is there any actress who would appreciate it more? Dang, I'm so tired of spoiled, self-centered starlets!

I love her right now. She just seems so "That Thing You Do" with her fame if that makes sense. Like she worked for it but didn't entirely expect it so she's just on cloud 9 with all of this going on right now and I love that. There seems to be no entitlement in her right now. Hopefully that doesn't change and we don't start hearing horror stories about her.
I loved her in Dreamgirls. I will admit that in straight dialog she's not a super strong actress but she does emote very very well. Whether she's singing or just observing the action you could tell what her character was feeling. But she needs some help on dialog. But she deserves any award she's nominated for just strictly for her performance of "And I'm Telling You" which gave me chills.

I, too, agree that her non-singing acting is not very technically proficient, and she doesn't have many acting tools...and yet... She believed every word she said, so therefore I believed every word! It was so beautiful to see someone SO committed to their work. It is something that some seasoned actors seem to lose. You can just see her drive, ambition, and excitement to just BE there. And whoa, chills up and down the spine with "And I Am Telling You..." Her eyes, they just got right to my heart.
