I could see her doing an album of ballads and sweet pop songs, somewhere between Sade and Corinne Bailey Rae. I hope she doesn't go hard for the Top 40 charts because her sound isn't what the teens are listening to nowadays. There's an opening in the "stand there and sing real good" market that she could fill. She has dramatic talents that could work very well in concerts in theaters, sort of like Streisand. I hope to heck she doesn't do hot pants and ass shaking with Timbaland beats. You are 100% right, her career should go more along the lines of Barbara Streisand than Beyonce. She'll have a longer career if she does that as well. I also hope she does NOT win the Oscar now because I fear what the backlash would be, especially since Hudson is not yet an established actress. Though Queen Latifah was nominated for "Chicago" she had been in many films before, plus a TV series, she was established as an artist and Streisand had been on Broadway before she won an Oscar. I would just hate for Hudson to be the answer to a question on a crossword puzzle someday.

See, I would love her to win precisely becasue she is not part of the establishment! I really like it when someone truly appreciates and values the recognition, as she obviously would. As for her singing niche....no way do I personally see her as a BS. In fact the reason I didn't like her as much as some of the others on AI that season is that her voice was too earthy, too bold and.........aggressive (?). She pulls sounds from her toes, it seems like! I like ballads, and could NEVER see her doing ballads. That was why I liked LaToya so much-she had the "pretty" voice. Jennifer......raw and powerful, but never "pretty", like a BS. JMHO

I think she will most likely win there are many established actors that have gotten Oscars ,Glden Globes etc.Yet they don't always measure up when it comes to performances proof they were just given the award for all the wrong reasons. I think if she does get an Oscar it may very well be deserved. I do think her acting needs some critique but all in all gurl was damn good .I don't know about her future perfomances but I was moved by this perfomance. Not bad for an "non established actor" she can run with some of the "big dawgs". I luvd how she embodied the part stubborness, bold, and unyielding.Maybe I am alone but I luv her smile ,gap and what some might call unconvential beauty.
As for Queen Latifah,Barbara are not alone for what some might feel as being "snubbed". There are few I could name off the bat that are established actors that always get good reviews yet no Golden Globe or Oscar.

Um, this is a little much. Eh - it's just like all other FYC adds that the studios run.

I'm a little nervous about Clive Davis working with her, considering he blandified Whitney Houston.

I wish she would simply stick to acting. If she used her voice in her roles I think she would do really well. Add a little more meat to her acting chops and she could well become a fixture in the entertainment scene. But she might end up throwing this away if she records a bland pop/R&B album.
I just wish she would stick with acting and small parts, while taking the occasional supporting and lead role, not wasting her voice on potentially smarmy ballads and dance songs.

Tyra would add FIERCE to that FYC poster.

Vogue: I know she's the favourite to win the Oscar but wow, this is still a pretty big thing.
