I thought her acting was good. Her singing was worth the price of admission. I think it was a shrewd movie to push her for SA. She wouldn't have a shot in hell in the BA category based on the competition.

Agreed. Helen Mirren all but has that one locked up, Jen actually has a chance to win with an SA nom.
What tickles me the most is that even though Beyonce and her minions were obviously pushing for her to get all the attention - "Listen" was embarrassingly transparent ploy to that end - the one everyone is talking about is...Jennifer.
Hee.
Go Boomie!

I just love that SNL did a piss up of Jennifer's solo and not Beyonce's. Here is the link.

Which year of AI was she on? I don't remember her, but then I only watched the first two seasons religiously and then just saw bits and pieces of the last few seasons.

She looked awesome last night.
The line from Dreamgirls that really sticks out to me -- is so random. It's the scene where Curtis demotes Effie to backup. She (to me) roars the line "Deena has always been beautiful. But I've GOT THE VOICE, I'VE GOT IT!". There was just something about how she spit that line out --- really stuck with me.
I'm really happy for her. And if this is the high point of her career, what a hell of an apex, right?
Hope the Knowles clan doesn't have a J-Hud voodoo doll "and this pin is for all of the awards B isn't getting!"

I'm really happy for her. She was definitely the underdog. I wish her well.

I really felt for her character Effie. Right before her song "And I Am Telling You" they were really ripping into her. I mean, Effie was blamed for everything. I had to leave before the end, but I daresay that I hope Jennifer gets more acting roles. She might not get lead roles just yet, nor great ones, but small steady roles that lead up to something big. She has all the time in the world, plus a large dallop of proven talent; she'll be around for a while so she can take her time.
As for Beyonce....hehehe...I hope that she gets used to going down....
Maybe the song 'Listen' was to get Beyonce a push forward, but she had that in the advertising and the only reason I saw Dreamgirls is because of hearing the raves....not about Beyonce, but of Jennifer Hudson and frankly put she (Hudson) lived up to the hype.
It's still deliciously ironic that this was supposed to be Beyonce's oscar role, but it's Hudson's spotlight now.

Jennifer looked so beautiful and elegant last night. I'm so happy she won. And yes, the irony was delicious.
