I agree with others that I'm tired of the hype. The thing is that she got much of being the anti-Beyonce. Where is that going to get her in the long run with her career. She really is not that great of a singer in the technical aspect. I especially don't think her sound will translate into commercial success. Last night on the after show, Roper said that he thinks she'll do well to find a sitcom with great ensemble. Ouch.

All the prestigious awards she has won (BAFTA, SAG, Critics Choice, GG, Oscar, etc. ), could be a blessing or a curse for Jennifer because the bar has been set so high for her, so soon. Once the hoopla dies down, it will be time for her to actually go to work, and it may be expected for her to continue to live up to that excellence in order for her to have a successful career.

I fell asleep and missed it. Did mention Idol in her speach? Nope. Heh, take that Simon. She thanked various people, God, wished her gramma was there and then of course the stupid fucking band started playing over her. You know, the producers had to have time for 15 more montages. Anyhow, as they played her off she thanked Jennifer Holiday.

Can I post an anti-Beyonce post on the Jhudson thread? It's much more fun....
I just remember the Academy Awards a few years back when Beyonce sang like all the songs up for best song, coming in second only to the worst idea for presentation of music awards.....when Debbie Allen was in charge and they had this guy tap dancing to the theme of Saving Private Ryan.
Beyonce was so smug, running off and getting different hair and dresses, and she butchered the songs, and pulled the spotlight away from the songs and the writers and especially the singers that had originally performed the songs in the movies. It was all about Beyonce, not the music.
I'm sure that it was set up for the World Domination of Beyonce. Be a Bond girl (even if it wasn't a Bond movie), sing all the Oscar songs (WTF...why would anyone think the American audience would want to see that?), get the lead in The Big Musical, then snag an Oscar!
But Bee, honey, there's a bigger more compelling story out there than the rich entitled girl getting everything she wants, and that's the Cinderella story. And you Beyonce are no Cinderella.
I'm giving Jennifer Hudson her moment. I've been there since the first time she showed up in that god awful pink dress on American Idol. Way to go Boomie!

She didn't mention AI, but during the E! red carpet show they showed her a taped message from Simon wishing her luck and telling her how awesome she was and she almost cried. It was sweet.

Why was Beyonce in the aisle seat when Jennifer was up for an Oscar?
I don't think we have to worry about her working again - don't forget the Best Supporting Actress curse. Unless you have supreme talent, if you're a newbie you're doomed.

Hm. How so? I am not trying to be rude in the slightest, but I am a professional and classically trained singer, and I think her voice sounds full, healthy and well-trained.

I think her "career" is pretty much over. I didn't think she deserved the award actually. She didn't deserve to win AI either. Hype over substance.
