I've noticed that a lot with magazines. First they don't like to put black women in particular on covers, and when they do - they don't photograph them well. Tis a shame.

With those ill-composed pictures and the pictures of the Crazy Cruise family, Annie Leibowitz has really fallen in my eyes.

Yeah. I agree. She kinda lucked upon a really, really good role and opportunity. She is very lucky.
But I will say this again, I think her version of "And I am Telling You" is really terrible. In the theater, there is all this excitment that builds up to that moment and everybody naturally wants to root for Effie therefore people's judgement is a bit clouded. But if you hear that song on the radio it sounds like crap to me.
I also, think that she has a slightly above average voice, and is in dire need of more vocal coaching. I heard her singing live on the Aretha Franklin tribute, and she sounded bad, she has no control over her voice and doesn't have good stage presence.

This has absolutely no basis in anything, but the few times I've seen her interviewed lately, she (to me) is already showing some divaishness. I saw her interview on the red carpet at the Grammys and something about it just rubbed me wrong. I don't know what. Maybe I was just cranky that night or something, but I came away from it with a bad taste in my mouth.

I saw that diva-tude back when she was on AI. She could become the next Mariah (and not in the good way) if she's not careful.

She definitely needs a few years of success before the diva-tude can come out. She's not that far removed from American Idol -- and people are going to take every chance they can to throw that up in her face.
I can imagine that she's being pulled in every direction right now due to the redhot status. But -- the fame is what she says she wanted.

The Vogue cover makes her look as though she's about to devour something or someone, her Essence cover is much better. The photograph of Whoopi in a bowl of milk would have made me cautious about Leibowitz taking my picture but Hudson is too young to know about that.

See, that's what I mean. I don't know that it was any one thing, per se, it was just her attitude. I couldn't put a finger on it if I tried. Her whole thing against AI, and the way she said Ryan was her favorite. I don't know. Like I said, it could have totally been my mindset. Boy, do I write coherently, or what?

I did read in a magazine that she has been acting a little disdainful, as if she's so 'above' stuff like American Idol and she supposedly pulled up to a relative's home in a limo. Other than that I haven't heard much. Do you have a clip of the interview, or a link to the clip so I can see it?
