RIP, Godfather.

When did "no less descpicable" turn into "good"? I didn't get it in the Britney thread and don't get it now. "You beat your wife, but not enough to kill her, so you get a free pass!" If you want to talk Elvis or Jerry Lee Lewis I suggest you start a thread for them, but I fail to see why discussing James Brown in the James Brown thread is offensive.
Why do people feel the need to insert their political opinions into random arguments? What do the president or the secretary of state have to do with James Brown?
So the posters here not only lack empathy but they're also self-righteous for daring to mention that Brown was a great musician but also a bit of an asshole in real life?
I for one am not perfect, but I have never committed spousal battery nor gotten high on PCP, threatened to kill my employees and then led police on a car chase - so I feel confident in pointing out that yes, that's shitty. If you think that's "harsh" and going out on a limb to point out that that stuff is wrong, well, then....

Amen to your whole post poorfrances. I don't get how a celebrity just because they died, are all of a sudden not a bad person as they were when they were alive. Sorry, but shit does not get erased.
Noone is saying he wasn't a great musician, just that yes, he was an asshole.

I think that 99.44% Pure made a great post, and I agree with every sentiment contained within.
RIP James Brown.

Ah yes, there really is a Simpsons moment for everything. I loved him in all his cameos - the Blues Brothers, the Simpsons and that crappy Jackie Chan movie with Jennifer Love Hewitt (the Tuxedo?).
RIP

Was just watching Fox News (too lazy to get up and find the remote) and apparently James Browns widow has been locked out of his home because of some family drama-rama.

I'm going to have that techno song in my head all day in honor of him. RIP. I'd forgotten about that song! Thanks, it's going to be in my head now, too. "James Brown is dead."

Aaargh. I was in the airport yesterday and heard someone on their cell phone: "Who's James Brown?" Seriously?

James Brown: Genius singer, songwriter, and performer. Crazy as a loon. As are so many performers. RIP.
