She claims she can't continue paying for Homer's private school tuition, her Canadian mortgage, L.A. rent, auto and other expenses.

Sell the house in Canada, find a smaller apartment, ditch the Mercedes (or whatever luxury car), get a used Toyota and shop at Value Village.

I think $15,000 a month is pretty excessive. However, she is full of shit when she says one of the reasons she's struggling for money is because she has to pay her Canadian mortgage. Her show just got cancelled, so she doesn't need to be in Canada anymore. There is no reason for her *not* to sell that house.

Me too. At the end of the day, she's B-list at best. The large majority of American families with two incomes don't make $180k a year. What does a little kid need that costs $15k a month?

I am not a fan of Ellen but I always thought she used her to further her career back in the day.I don't think she is a nice person. But it sucks when you can't pay your bills.

Anne Heche might be B-list, but she's still a capable actress who's gotten pretty good reviews for most of the tv, film, and stage work she's done. If she hustles her butt, she could work steadily. Gander, goose, whatever: babies are expensive and if you don't want to get dinged in court, don't cheat on your spouse and break up your marriage. It is that simple, Anne. She created this situation, first by breaking up with Ellen to marry this dude and then stepping out on him. She's a piece of work.

I think she should lobby for a part on an ensemble show like Boston Legal or ER. Rob Lowe and John Stamos have found good parts by sucking up their pride, realizing they can't carry their own shows, taking smaller roles. I liked her guest arc on Ally McBeal many years ago. She should try to find something like that again.

I agree that she's the asshole here, but I am still wondering what a kid needs with $180k a year. That is really a shitload of money. Even if half of it was going toward a college fund (unlikely) that's still a shitload of money.

Anne Heche reaches divorce settlement

Anne Heche reached a settlement Friday in her contentious divorce from Coley Laffoon, agreeing to pay her ex-husband a $275,000 lump sum and $3,700 per month in child support for their 6-year-old son, court papers show.

The agreement marks a sharp reduction in the temporary $15,000-a-month support that the Men in Trees stars had been paying – but said she could no longer afford because she was out of work.

Under the settlement, Heche, 38, also will pay 75 percent of son Homer's private school tuition and half of "agreed-upon extracurricular activities" for the boy, according to L.A. Superior Court papers.

Laffoon, 34, filed for divorce in February 2007, and the fight quickly became nasty, with Heche portraying Laffoon as a deadbeat who watches porn and frequents strip clubs, and Laffoon calling Heche mentally unstable.
