Edward Norton has such a gigantic ego I doubt he was, either, altho I'd guess in the end Salma is smarter than he is. No doubt! Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he keep spouting that he basically rewrote Frida? Way to try to steal you SO's thunder! I've always disliked him.. always.

I agree. As she said once, the only man she would marry would be a man who had bigger balls than herself.

Speaking of wealth. Doesn't Salma herself come from a very wealthy educated family? All I know is I love her to death, well her and Cate Blanchett. I wish her, the future hubby, and baby all the best.

Clementine74, I'd be happy to divulge. I met with Salma on the Frida project about ten years before it actually got made (the project had been hopping around in various forms for many years, Madonna wanted to do it, and a severe backlash from the Latino community shut down a production starring Laura San Giacomo because she was not Latina). Salma was, as I said, a force of nature. Tiny and beautiful, with gorgeous skin and those gazonga boobies, and just throwing out all this incredible energy and light. Of course our concern was that she was just too beautiful to play Frida, with her famous eyebrows and moustache. Salma had been attached to do a Frida mini-series in Mexico, and she had wardrobe/makeup tests done, and she showed those photos to us, and she looked fantastic, so all our doubts were gone. Even tho she was only meeting with us as an actor, she had a whole list of Mexican directors she thought we should consider (including Alfonso Cuaron and Alejandro Inarritu, way before they worked in the US, which shows you just how smart she is). She was so passionate and articulate and effervescent. She doesn't just make you want to work with her, she makes you want to hang out with her and spend time with her, because she's so damn interesting and fun. Needless to say, the project didn't happen then, but it was no surprise to me that she went on to make Frida, and that she recruited all those people to be in it, and that she won people over to the idea of Julie Taymor, who is a genius but always something of a creative wild card. Everything she said in the PR for the movie was true. That role was her destiny from a long way back.
rascal, you are dead on correct about Edward Norton. As someone who saw the Frida script in various incarnations, I can tell you that his assertion that what ended up on the screen was 90% his is an outright lie. There were scenes in the movie that were in drafts written years before Edward even read the script.

Thanks Wol. It makes me ridiculously happy to read she's as nice in person as she seems to be during interviews and other public appearances.

That was the first thing I thought when I saw the picture of him. Craig is a little better looking than that guy.

You'll have to wait until I'm done with him Damn, why can't I find a nice semi-attractive billionare to marry!! You'd both have to first convince him to cheat around on Salma Hayek. I'd think twice if I were you, she looks like she'd cut a bitch for trying it. Plus you'd have to out HOTT her, good luck with that.
