Pics of Mette Marit's dad (from article Kara linked to): wow...what a class act I feel bad for Mette Marit...since she's married Haakon, it seems like she hasn't made a misstep...and she's stuck having the King of Trailer Trash as daddy dearest. Poor thing BTW:...how do you pronounce "Mette"...I've always thought it was pronounced Met-uh. Is that right? Or is it pronounced "met" or "meat" or something?

I asked a Norwegian guy I met in Walt Disney World last year how to say her name. It was actually kind of funny because he knew her personally- they were from the same town [Kristiansand] and he had been the manager of a department store where she used to go shopping all the time. Anyway, he told me it's pronounced "Met-tuh Muh-rit".

Heard that Mette-Marit has been criticzed in Norway for not wearing norwegian designed clothes. They think she has started to see Marie-chantal too much and is imitating her choices of designers, like Valentino with sky-high bills as a result. But nevertheless she has become much more stylish!

Why she would want to hang with Marie Chantal is beyond me - and frankly, she's not someone I'd emulate. It's true that MM's style has improved, though...which is a good thing. It may be cruel to say but she really isn't the prettiest girl around - especially when she has her hair its awful natural brownish colour

Mette-Marit and Haakon visited MC and Pavlos in Porto Heli last summer for instance.

Yeah...I heard the same thing. I think there are some pictures of that somewhere out there. I wonder how they became friends - I know that Mette Marit and Haakon were in London for a little while - did they hang out a lot then?

Today you can again read in the papers about Mette-Marits extremely expensive clothes! She seems to want to compensate her earlier very simple life with full measure.

Hi all! I'm Norwegian; it's so cool to see people talk about our Mette Marit. I'm not a big fan or anything, but it may be helpful to have a Norwegian person to ask if there's things you want to know. Just wanted to add about her stupid father: He drinks a lot, and doesn't seem to want to hide it at all. He uses it to get attention and pity. The biggest celebrity magazine here pays for trips to Spain etc, and in exchange they join him and print crazy, ridiculous photos of him. He talks about all of his problems with his daughter (and grandchildren) and his drinking habits so openly that it gets uncomfortable and embarrassing. Cirka last summer there suddenly appeared photos of him in said magazine from somewhere in the south of Europe, together with one of the most ridiculous, trashy, stupid, famewhores in Norway. She's a country singer, but she's way more known for her tacky famewhoring than for her music. She looks about as great as that stripper-girlfriend of his: pub.tv2.no/multimedia/TV2/archive/00153/sven_o_h_iby_t_bend_153019a.jpgAnyway, the article was implying that these two might have hooked up. Weeks later the two of them made a statement about it not being so; they were just playing it up for the media since they got the trip for free. It's all one huge, tragic, pathetic humiliation, and I seriously think the media should start shielding this man from himself. For Mette Marit's sake, if not for anything else. I like Mette Marit. She did a documentary last fall where she talked to people with different problems and really got to know them. She's got a talent for talking to people, and I'm happy she uses her position to do something useful. I'm not too sure how I feel about royalties in general though, but here's not the place for that!

Mette Marit had better be careful. Unlike Marie Chantal she is going to be a real queen one day and she needs to remember that the majority of her money is not from her own pockets . It comes from Norway's taxpayers and that it is in her best interest to make sure that she doesn't end up becoming a Norwegian Marie Antoinette. I remember seeing Mette Marit at a party for Valentino and I am astounded that a Crown Princess from a legitimate and reigning royal house is going to freakin' parties for a fashion designer and not performing royal duties in her country. She should not be hobnobbing with celebrity trash.
