Wow, what a talented songwriter. Over the past 8 months I have become such an admirer. And yeah, kudos to her for evolving, not dishing out "something familiar, something similar.." (quoting from Please Please Please). I loved the old O'Sailor, and the old Oh Well, and the old Tymps. Heck, I loved most of the leaked album (except maybe Window which was cool but didn't quite hang together, and red red red which I had to be drunk to truly enjoy). But some of the new tracks are really grabbing me, like "Not About Love" and the reworked Red Red Red. So to quote mrpancake -- It's hard for me to choose a preference, so instead I'll be happy with both.

I have a lot of respect for people who write their own music, especially when it's good. Fiona writes her own music and lyrics, and the lyrics are everything they should be: clever, moving, not trite
I feel like even if the subject matter is somewhat trite, she words it in a way that makes it remarkable, which is what I like most about her music.
Fiona has some crazily dedicated fans, and I started getting into her music coincidentally right when the full album leaked.
The new album is growing on me a lot, even if it is very different than the old EM (which I also loved). Oddly, Window seemed to be a song EVERYONE hated on the old EM, but now people like it. I actually really liked Window to begin with, and I think the new version is a bit worse. Different strokes I guess. I also loved the old Red, Red, Red, and the new one is so different, but I love the direction they took it. Can't wait to actually get the album.

Huh. I'm enjoying the new stuff right now, but I liked the old stuff to. I think it would really interesting if other musicians made public several different takes on their albums-- you could download different versions or hear works in progress.
This is going to sound really nuts-- but the earlier cuts I heard sort of sounded more 'Zip-a-dee-Doo-Da!' and what I'm listening to right now sounds more 'Inspector Gadget.' Yeah, I don't know why. It's probably the same weird quirk that makes me hear the 'Thundercats Theme Song' whenever I drink a bright orange-colored drink.

I started getting into her music coincidentally right when the full album leaked. Me too. I was getting very into Jon Brion, seeking out every little thing he had done, and that's why i landed on Fiona. Hallelujah! for that. I think her sense of harmony is amazing. More amazing still is that I gather it is totally organic, not that conscious . I'm not taking her literally at her word in "Red Red RED" when she says, "Don't understand about... the harmony in a tune", . But Mike Elizondo said he thanked her for her wonderful chord changes and she kind of shrugged, saying she didn't think of them as special or unusual. Just a natural talent. Whereas I DO understand the harmony in a tune but cant' put one together to save myself -- ALAS! Anyway it's a great album. Window and red red red finally grew on me, and I did love the chimes and such in Window. I miss them in the new version - I don't' like it any better, I like it even less. Red Red Red, I got into in the crazy leaked arrangement, but to be honest I think this version is more effective. I feel very lucky to have both versions! It would be wonderful if we could hear more interpretations of songs by the artists, without having to wait 20 years for their reunion show or such.

I am absolutely shocked at myself' Why? In spite of hating her personality and her annoying flourishes of "I'm an artist, you don't understand me" pretention...I ACTUALLY like the album.
(I just wish I could forget that ridiculous rant she gave at the MTV Awards in which she chastised people for actually making her famous and for handing her awards...what a b***. Still love her new songs...quite interesting lyrics and unique arrangements)

Her speech was def. out of line but I like that she told her fans not to copy her style, but to "Go with yourself". "Go with yourself" is avery popular line in my house

I listened to it last night and I really like it.
She kinda bugs me when she speaks too, and I don't understand how someone can write clever, witty lyrics but seem so humorless otherwise.
But hey, I don't have to live with her, just her music. And I like her music just fine.
