No. Samantha Mathis was River's girlfriend - Christina just happened to be at the Viper Room that night, and I think word was at the time that she and her friends were not showing a whole lot of concern for what was happening.
I'm curious as to how the breast cancer news got out. Cynthia Nixon had breast cancer, was treated for it and recovered without anyone knowing. How does word get out instantly about Christina's diagnosis?

Christina currently has a hit TV show and has been in the limelight this year. Cynthia was not in the limelight during her cancer battle.
ETA: Christina's representative gave a statement to ET. Perhaps Christina wanted to go public with the information.

Hasn't Christina been in ads for breast cancer awareness because of her mom? I think beak is probably right -- this could be her way of potentially getting something good out of it by further raising awareness.

And I agree, I think this is her way of getting word out on detection and treatment. |

I'm so sorry to hear this. Is it that more women are getting breast cancer, or they're detecting it more frequently (and earlier)? Damn. I wish her well. What happened to lighthearted goofy celeb news?  |

Even if I didn't already like her, this would earn her my respect. Girl is tough. I heard her comments this morning. I thought they just found the cancer. It was great to hear they'd found it, removed it, and she was on the road to recovery. She looks great too! |

Wow. It was first portrayed as though she'd just found it, it was small, no threat to spread. But a double mastectomy - bless her heart.
