He’s definitely one of the better SNL hosts. He sold all the skits. I liked the Undercover Boss follow up, although it was still nowhere as good as the first. I was hoping that the second time that he hosted that they would do a sequel, but it makes more sense to have done it after the final movie came out. I agree though it wasn't as good as Matt the Radar Technician, but I was still happy that they actually did do a sequel to that skit. He seems to be the kind of host who throws himself in and lets them him over. He really does. I was disappointed last time because I feel like they didn't really use him that much, but in this episode he did the monologue all by himself, and he even was in the cold open. Maybe it was because last time he hosted it was the start of a new season, and they hadn't found a groove yet, but there seems to be a big difference from that episode and last night's.

I think last time Kanye West just sucked all the joy and attention out of everything and the episode was lackluster. I think they decided to do it right this time with Adam hosting. He was really good the first time too.
I wish they would have done another skit with him as the really old man as I think that was a really successful one but I think Pete is away and maybe they didn’t want to do it without him.

My son just told me that the reason the opening monologue was so long was because Adam was trying to run out the clock so they'd have to drop a sketch that he thought was transphobic...

I love the oil baron! He said that about the last sketch as part of his monologue and it wasn't clear if he was being serious or that was part of the joke. ETA: fix typo

That was a joke from the opening monologue. Not sure if meant to be taken literally or if just a joke about how the show runs long and bits get cut. My boyfriend thought the same thing though and wanted me to see if I could find it online (I think sometimes the last sketches are performed for the studio audience and filmed but not aired?)

Driver has great comic timing. The shuffle and creepy smile straight into the camera during the monologue was great LOL.
Yeah, the running too long part of the monologue was a joke IMO.

Ditto to both! And I love the oil baron as well! And I really don’t care if Pete Davidson is there or not to be part of the skit.

Yeah, the running too long part of the monologue was a joke IMO. Every single word of those monologues is written out and put on cue cards, including, "Thank you...Thank you...It's great to be here hosting Saturday Night Live." When Bill Hader came back to host, the monologue writer wrote in, "Wow, I'm really nervous" because he knew that Hader suffers from anxiety and it would help him to say it. If Bill Hader after 8 years on the show is having every word written for him as host...Adam Driver's not improvising entire jokes.

I've realized that I've become a fan of his over this awards season. And not even really because of "Marriage Story", though it is a great performance. It just sorta became clear that I've pretty much found him awesome in everything I've seen him in, including SNL. Great actor and really charismatic. Joanne Tucker had a really pretty dress on at the Oscars: Adam Driver and Joanne TuckerActually thought that he came across as rather relaxed and laid back during the awards season, perhaps Phoenix being the clear front runner took the pressure out of it? Anyway, remember that the first time I took really notice of him was the "Girls" first season finale. He was just the strange, creepy boyfriend and in that episode he totally burned down the building with his performance and at least for me it came totally out of nowhere. Also love "Paterson", such a beautiful, almost wordless performance. Could have gotten an Oscar nom for that one as well, but I guess too quiet.
