Priscilla made Elvis’ estate what it is now. She’s the co-founder of Elvis Presley Enterprises and made Graceland into a tourist destination.
Elvis’ father Vernon was one of the executors of Elvis’ estate and he named Priscilla to take his place after his death, which was two years after Elvis died.
Priscilla is a very savvy businesswoman and is responsible for increasing the value of the estate significantly. I think after Vernon died she was faced with having to sell Graceland and made the decision to turn it into a museum, which had been profitable ever since.
Elvis Presely Enterprises is extremely protective of Elvis’ image and will go after bootlegged recordings and counterfeit merchandise. They’re right up there with Disney when it comes to controlling the product.

How does Priscilla have anything to do with the estate? She and Elvis were divorced when he passed, correct? (I have done zero research on this; I do not like Elvis music and haven’t really paid much attention to him other than the TV movie “Elvis & Me.”) Didn't that have Kurt Russell as Elvis? It's fun garbage! Someone on Twitter was talking about the "double standard" of calling out Michael Jackson but not Elvis Presley. I said they were both great entertainers who were creeps around underage children. He shut down after that.

No, the one I’m thinking of is from around 1988 and Elvis was played by someone called Craig Midkiff, I believe? Why do I remember that?

My mom was a huge Elvis fan and I remember watching it together when I was in elementary school. I must have seen it a hundred times since. We still quote it regularly!

Somewhere out in the ether Craig Midkiff just felt the odd sensation that someone "said" his name.

I've been reading that Priscilla and Lisa Marie were estranged for eight years. Hmmm I wonder if that estrangement had anything to do with LMP turning against Scientology. There's a chicken-or-the-egg scenario. Did Priscilla get mad because Lisa-Marie quit, or did Lisa-Marie quit after a dispute with her mother?

I've seen a couple of articles that claim that Priscilla has left Scientology very recently, but who knows if that's true. Even if it is, I can see Lisa-Marie not wanting all that money to go to the Clams.

The production stills made this look like "so bad is good" territory. Elvis was "so mediocre, it's mediocre".

It is a bit Lifetime-esque in its production values but there's something about it that has just resonated through the years for me. Probably has something to do with the age I watched it
