I felt like I had been punched in the stomach when I read this. I really, really hope he's okay and getting the help he needs. Part of me is still hoping that the story got mixed up somehow and the suicide attempt is false reporting.

Dammit. I really hope he's OK. Despite the butterscotch stallion stuff, he really seems like a cool, chill guy. And I've always been impressed that he cowrote The Royal Tenenbaums and Rushmore. So seems genuinely smart on top of being so affable.

Owen was in the Chapel Hill/Durham, NC area a few years ago visiting family and he went to a bar that I visited all the time. Some friends-of-friends chatted with him and got their picture taken with him and said he was a really nice guy. There were rumors of him womanizing while he was in the area (chasing after Duke sorority girls, apparently) but all the people who met him at the bar said he was super friendly to all.

Here's hoping he pulls through and get the help he needs. At least he, unlike so many troubled celebs, seems to come from a loving family. I'm glad that they're with him.

Fox News was reporting that he slashed both wrists and took a while host of pills. He was semi-conscience when his brother found him and that the brother called 911. He was taken to the hospital where his stomach was pumped and his wrists were stitched and bandaged before being shipped off to another hospital to be detoxed. His parents and both brothers were by his side . He will remain in detox under suicide watch .

On a personal note ..... I hopes he gets better and I hope that whatever haunts him , can be corrected and I hope he finds the peace in life , he was seeking in death . Get better soon Owen, we are all sending you good vibes.

I agree. In some ways his intelligence may be a liability though... I think sometimes smart people make the worst addicts, because they're so good at rationalizing, hiding, and talking circles around people who are trying to help them. Best case scenario, maybe this will be a wake-up call for OW

I wonder if he called his brother? If he did not call anyone and say "I took a bunch of pills" kind of means he wanted to die as apposed to the cry for help.

I like Owen. He always makes me giggle. I was a little disappointed in him when he hooked up with Kate Hudson. That was more about taste than anything.

I hope he gets the help he needs and gets better.

Luke has always been my favorite Wilson brother by far - Owen annoys me - but I'm sad for their whole family and hope like hell he gets the help he needs. As someone who has been depressed, I know what it is like.

I was shocked to hear this news this morning. I always thought of Owen as an easy going anything goes type of guy. Perhaps this blind item[/color] pertains to him and not Jake Gyllenhal like everyone seems to think. I hope nobody would feel they would have to go as far as to attempt suicide rather than to be forced into publicly admitting they were gay.
