From what I understand, the reviews for this movie have been pretty good. I probably won't see this in the theater, but I'll definetely Netflix it. What irks me though, is that if this movie does really well, I just know the media will say it's all because of Katie Holmes, but if it does poorly, they will say it's because of Christian Bale or the Batman franchise has run its course, etc..

Okay, minute complaint time: can anybody explain why they replaced the Glow-in-the-Dark Batmobile with a cross between a dragster, a tank, and a monster truck? Okay, it's a functional tank of a vehicle, but wouldn't Batman want something..quieter?

NY Times review. It sounds great. I must say, I think I'm going to have a really hard time accepting Katie Holmes as a DA.

NY Times review. It sounds great. I must say, I think I'm going to have a really hard time accepting Katie Holmes as a DA. Now, now, Colette. While I admit that Katie's perfomance will undoubtedly fall short of Tara Reid's completely believable portrayal of a young genius anthropologist with an incredible memory and will surely fail to measure up to Denise Richards's totally realistic performance as a stunning nuclear scientist, I think she can pretend to be a district attorney. After all, look how convincingly she is portraying the innocent, love-struck ingenue on the verge of being swallowed whole by an egomanical actor and his clammy bretheren. eta ;D

Unless DA stands for Dumb Ass, I will, too. However, I can totally buy Christian as the tortured bat soul. Damn my deep love for Christian. Damn my deep hate for Katie. I'll be seeing this opening night.
edited because 'love' is not the same as 'hate'

I just saw it today and I loved it!!! Everyone I saw it with loved it too. It's a bit dark, very well paced, not cheesy. Awesome! Christian Bale also looks great in the mask. I will probably see it at least one more time.
ETA: Cillian is pretty too.

Hyde, how did they handle that monster truck Batman drives? I don't mean to be picky but it still strikes me as an odd choice for Batman to use....he's a stealth character and that vehicle comes off as being a bit too....well, blatant.

Monster Zero: I don't want to spoil anything but the monster truck and all his gadgets/batcave etc. are dealt with very well. Oh, and the movie is funny too.

I've heard nothing but good things about the movie, but I have yet to see it myself. I'm really looking forward to it though, and hope it's better than Spiderman 2, which I actually thought wasn't as good as Spiderman. Somehow the acting in S2 was more wooden than in the first one with the exception of Toby's performance. I have great confidence that Christian Bale will rock the house as Batman.
