I saw it last night and loved it. It was the best Batman movie I've seen. I hate Katie Holmes but even she didn't bug me too much in this (she's not in it too much really). I have read one or two reviews that said it didn't have enough action so I was a bit confused by that. I thought it was really action packed and interesting.
And now I must geek out all over the internet and try to figure out how we can get Mark Hamill the role of Joker in the sequel.

I wasn't initially interested in seeing this movie until a bunch of my co-workers started raving about it. Saw it last night - its awesome! Christian Bale did a fantastic part in everything except his "chemistry" with Katie Holmes. They had zero spark. I don't blame all of this on Holmes, I think Bale focuses so much on brooding that he isn't really able to relate to others on screen.
I looooved the batmobile. Did anyone else notice it sounded more like an animal than a car?

You're in luck. Here (scroll down) ETA: Ok I just really read the article instead of rushing over it and he's in the running not signed on. I think he has a good shot at it though. I hope he gets it.

It doesn't seem like it's official yet. He might get it but I could easily see them giving it to the Aussie dude because he's not as recognizable. He's just on an internet shortlist.

Saw it last night and thought it was fantastic. Granted, I'm a bit prejudiced where Christian Bale is concerned, but I thought he was wonderful as Batman and, most importantly, Bruce Wayne. The scene in which >>he runs into Rachel as he's leaving the hotel after his "swim" with his supermodel "dates" is a good example. The Bruce Wayne playboy mask slips for a second and you see a glimpse of the "real" Bruce underneath. It's all in the subtle changes in his facial expression--very well-played.<< As with first Spider-Man, I enjoyed seeing the backstory: how does he get the suit, Batmobile, Batcave, etc.
I thought Bale had great chemistry with Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman, so I'm going to put down the blah-ness of the Rachel relationship down to Katie Holmes. But since this movie isn't as focused on the superhero's relationship with the love interest (as opposed to the Spider-Man or Superman movies, where Mary Jane/Lois play much more central roles in the stories), it didn't bother me.
Cillian Murphy has pretty blue eyes.
The >>Joker teaser at the end was great and caused the crowd to go nuts.<<
Although Crispin Glover might be a cool choice, it would be awesome to see Mark Hamill as The Joker.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go drool over shirtless Christian in his thread...

Loved it!!!
Way better than Spiderman and X-Men. Much better than previous Batmans (especially the crappy Joel Schumacher versions). The story made sense and they did a great job of exploring Batman's origins. I also loved how they explained how he gets his gadgets and the Batcave, so it's not just magically and conveniently there. All the actors were stellar-- they really took on their characters and gave them humanity--especially Michael Caine as Alfred.
The only caveat I have with the movie is the character that Katie Holmes played. She was cute as Joey Potter, I suppose, but her acting in this movie is noticeably sub-par when compared to her co-stars. Plus her face has this weird mushy melty thing going on. There were times when she did her half-smile when she looked like a stroke victim. Besides that, her character felt shoehorned in, just to have one female in an all-male cast. Everyone else made sense, but she was just another damsel in distress. She had this pious, holier-than-thou attitude that bugged.
Besides that, it was an excellent movie. I highly recommend it. I would even see it again!

He, um "related" to Ewan McGregor quite well in Velvet Goldmine.Topic: Given BB's reviews, I'm going to see it ASAP. When it comes to CKH's scenes, I'll just pretend it's Ewan, without the drag.

It opened with $15.1 million on Wednesday night! I must admit that I'm a little sad Bale's going to become a household name overnight because of this movie when he's been doing quality work for years. Oh well, at least he should be able to have his pick of scripts for awhile.
