Wow. The dead guy from Weekend at Bernie's was more animated. The dancers are great, but at this point Mariah might as well just launch her "I'll Just Stand Here, Ok?" Tour and be done with it. I'm reminded of something Gina Torres said about Jessica's wardrobe on Suits. According to Gina some of the outfits are so tight that she CAN'T sit down in them. I think she even said that some are so tight she can't walk either. I can't imagine why that popped into my mind.... So what you mean is someday soon we are going to see Mariah strapped upright to a dolly and wheeled around? |

This is the BEST thing ever! I am cackling! I'm trying to pinpoint my fav moment. It's either the dude hoisting her up onto the dancers' backs or the guy who has to hand her the mic afterward  I really liked it when the guy sets her back down, then has to steady her before he moves away! It also looks like he's, uh, struggling* a bit. He doesn't hold on to her long. lol I could stop eating for two weeks and still weigh more than Mariah. It still made me chuckle. |

The people defending her are saying that her lackluster dancing is tongue-in-cheek because she was never known as a dancer. Um, okay. But I went back and watched the 'Honey' video. And she was a lot more animated. Now, neither of us is a spring chicken anymore, but I think Janet and Madonna can still click their heels with a little more gusto than this :-) Oh, well. I do love Mimi and her no fucks given attitude. That's good and all, but doesn't explain she barely moves around even during the up tempo songs. Get rid of the choreography and you get this. 90% of this song isn't live and she's still stiff and not doing much. It also really does seem like she has a waist trainer on or something. |

I saw Britney in concert a couple of years ago and she wasn't that much more animated, to be honest. A bit more but in between her dance moves she would just stand there like she was waiting for someone to wind her up again. She looked better in her leotards though. Mariah should really go up a size, or just do the thing where there is never a tag in anything so she thinks she is a size 4.

I just saw Paula Abdul in concert recently, and she's still a damn good dancer and obviously put a ton of effort into the choreography. She even fell once (it was an outdoor concert and it was raining) and she got right back up again and didn't miss a beat. And she's not that much older than Mariah so I don't know what her excuse is.

In fairness, Paula Abdul is a dancer. That's how she rose to fame with the Laker girls and being a choreographer. Janet Jackson is also a really great dancer. Not defending Mariah's latest foolishness, but she was never any sort of dancer. She did show shimmy a bit in Honey and some of the other videos, but I'm willing to bet money that she was told "you have to dance, everyone dances." As this point, she should just let the dancers dance and she should just prance around singing the song.

I don't think anyone expects Mariah to be busting out some amazing choreography, but she appears unable to walk. Is she wearing a dozen control top pantyhose? Some sort of insane corset? Why can't she bend?

As this point, she should just let the dancers dance and she should just prance around singing the song. Back when I was a Mariah fan (circa 1990-1991), she stood in front of the microphone and sang. That's it. People were there for the singing, not a dance routine. Not everybody needs to do a dance. Celine and Adele don't. That said, Mariah's not giving much in the way of vocal performance these days, so there's probably not much to justify seeing her live if there isn't some razzle dazzle going on. But like you said, let the dancers handle the dancing. She doesn't need to pretend to participate. |

I don't think she needs to dance....just look engaged with her dancers--while they do their thing.
