Woah, Neurochick, I don't remember that at all. What was Dr. Laura's problem with Titanic? The premarital fling between Kate and Leo? Kate showing a breast? Probably Rose not being a good wife to that wonderful Cal.

Probably Rose not being a good wife to that wonderful Cal. She is his fian... his fiancée! Yes, she is, and his wife. His wife in practice if not yet by law, so she WILL honor him. She will honor him the way a wife is required to honor a husband. *flips table*

What happened was Dr. Laura read a letter from "a viewer" saying how "satanic" the movie was and Dr. Laura agreed with her. The issue was that Rose was engaged to someone, fell in love with Jack after just meeting him, told her mother to basically fuck off, and let her mother think she was dead. Dr. Laura thought that was awful and the movie sent the wrong message to young people. It was a good thing she didn't say anything about Kate's breast, since a short time laster, naked picture of Dr. Laura surfaced on the Internet. Whatever.

I read an interview earlier this week where James Cameron is annoyed that people are still annoyed that Rose didn't scoot over on the door. lol Honestly, after 20 years of having to listen to these arguments and an episode of Mythbusters devoted to it, I'm annoyed by it too. People should move the hell on already.

My memory of this movie is mostly about the war that erupted between Kenneth Turan, the movie critic at the LA Times and James Cameron. Turan did not think it was the greatest movie EVER! And Cameron was a tad sensitive about it. Here is Cameron’s letter to the editor articles.latimes.com/1998/mar/28/entertainment/ca-33428 in protest of the review.

Neurochick, Dr.Laura lived with a married man for years. He later became her second husband. The hypocrisy is not surprising.
Um, back to Titanic. I remember when it came out I was bummed I couldn't go see it. I had to wait two years until I finally got to watch it.

It took to years to watch it because I didn't have cable, I wasn't going to buy the bus without seeing it & the library only bought one copy and it was always out.

Last night, while watching Luke Cage, Claire Temple made a joke about making room on the door. I looked at The Roomie and was like "Poor Rose...nobody ever will let her live that down..." and then they start talking about how Rose should have made room, etc.
The Roomie looks confused at the whole thing. I was like "Titanic? The ending? Did you not at least watch The Mythbusters about it and how there was no room on the door?!?" Apparently my fiancé has never seen Titanic or remember the Mythbusters special on it.
