I do love the memories associated with this movie. I went to go see it with my boyfriend, HS best friend, and her boyfriend. BF and my boyfriend sobbed throughout the damn movie. My boyfriend, people! Her boyfriend and I were both horrified. Then the criers wanted to see it again, and this time her boyfriend and I amused each other by mocking the movie endlessly. They weren't amused, but they were so busy crying how could they hear us?
Actually, that's really representative of those relationships. Bestfriend and my boyfriend cried about everything, and her boyfriend and I would mock. Needless to say, everyone broke up fairly quickly.
What we would mainly mock was the fact that Leo just didn't jump up on the piece of wood with Kate, and then our favorite was "I'll never let you go!" followed by her cracking his dead cold hands off of the piece of wood.

He tried to get up on the piece of wood with Rose but it started sinking as soon as he tried.
I was in love with Leo in this movie. Cal was such a jackass that I was glad to hear he lost all his money and put a pistol in his mouth "or so I read".

Mr. Wol does a humorous impersonation of old Rose's inner monologue about telling the story to Bill Paxton: "No, I've never told this story to anyone...not my children...or my dear granddaughter who's taking care of me...but I'll tell Bill Paxton...he has an earring...maybe he's a pirate..." Oh, God, I just cackled out loud at my desk! This movie was okay for me. It was hard for me to love it and get emotional over it since: a) My stupid ex-boyfriend, "Satan", and I had a huge fight right before we went, so it kind of ruined the romantic mood for me. I could have cared less that Leo froze right in front of her. b) Many of you mention that you were in the 17 year old-ish target audience. I was waaaay past. I was 34 when the movie came out. I cared more that Kathy Bates didn't die. A couple of years later, we had an all girls lunch party at my friend's apartment, and she'd just gotten the video. We promptly turned it into our own version of "Rocky Horror", shouting out new lines. When the bad guy handcuffs Leo to the pipe, we yelled out, "Hey, you big pervert! You promised we'd just cuddle for once! You promised no funny stuff tonight!"

I'm glad to see the movie getting some love. It was a gorgeous spectacle held together by pure will and charm of the actors - the plot was meh.
Confession: The first time I saw it, I didn't even notice that Jack died. I was too busy going "Holy Shit, that was the most amazing ship sinking I've ever seen!" and then "Hey, where'd Jack go?"
I have a book on the special effects. I saw it 5 times (I think). Yep, target audience. Middle school.
Didn't find Leo to die for, though. He looked like he was 12 and I was 14, so you know. Now, though, he's gorgeous.

I read that Christian Bale tried out for the part of Jack but that Cameron didn't want two Brits playing both American leads. Dammit, he would have been smokin' as Jack. DiCaprio was just too young-he's a good actor, but the part was rather bland, and you needed someone with a slight, I don't know, "naughtiness?"
My favorite dress was the purple and pink one she wears during the sinking. And the blue velvet "flying" dress. And I LOVED the Heart of the Ocean necklace and the butterfly comb.
I even like that stupid Celine Dion song.

I'm unsure of my opinion. I loved it when it was new (even saw it three times at the movies), and bought it the day it came out on video. And then I started noticing the bad acting, cheesy dialogue, and overall crappiness of the movie. I watched it in its entirety about a year ago (after a six year break) and kinda warmed up to it again, but eh...I still don't know. At least the sets and costumes were pretty...

Hysterical! It was soooo difficult to take those Bill Paxton scenes seriously. "So, are you ready to go back to Titanic, buttwad?!?!" Bill Paxton will forever be Chet from Weird Science to me.

When I was working in daycare, one of the teachers loved the song and played it constantly. I don't which song is more vomit-inducing, this one or that Bruce Springsteen song from the creepy CTC movie. I'm really glad that the dialogue/theme song trend died.
I did cry buckets during the movie but I was only 15 so I was at the perfect age to be suckered in. I have to say that I now I think that Rose lived her life and never told her mother that she lived. I know they didn't get along but seems really cruel.

Probably for the best - Kate and Christian would have been so monumentally hot together they probably would have spontaneously combusted. Cameron also offered the role to Billy Crudup, who passed because he did not want to be a big star. He's such an asshat.

I think I was 12 when this movie came out, so I was just starting to come out as the major tomboy that I am today. So, I never cried during the movie (and I only saw it ONCE, thank you very much), but I did get a major migraine. And the song made me want to shove icepicks into my ears.
But I will let my girly side play for a while and say "Squee, Rose is purty!" There, I said it.
