I saw it today an liked it. In retrospect, it was too long, but I didn't get bored.
My favourite part actually involved my least-favourite character from the show: Charlotte. When Big has left Carrie at the altar and Charlotte says "NO!" it seriously gave me chills. That whole part was great, SJP did very well with a hard scene, especially "He's not coming". Kristin Davies has come a long way, acting-wise. I always felt she was the weakest link on the show, and she did great here.
Overall, it was good. I would have liked to have seen someone else fill Jennifer Hudson's part, not because I thought she was bad, but with so many great characters already, why add one? If they didn't want one of the girls to help Carrie, what about Stanford? Speaking of which, I loooooved that Stanford and Anthony are friends? boyfriends? -- either way, since they hated each other on the show. That was my favourite detail.

I was wondering about Stanford and Anthony too, I kind of got the impression that they may have hooked up or something.

Smith is not hot enough to make the innate dullness fade, I'm afriad.
Over all, I liked the movie, but as not as impressed with Charlotte/Kristen as everyone else. She was as pointless as ever.
But my overall impression, was that Big is an Ass with a Capital A. He does not deserve Carrie, in any way, shape or for

Just chiming in on the clothes, bags, and shoes. Wow. It made The Devil Wears Prada look like a low-budget indie. It was fashion porn! The wedding dress montage brought gasps of delight and awe throughout the theatre.
Overall, I wasn't impressed with Carrie's/SJP's fashions during the TV series but I thought she looked incredible in this movie. The blue dress with the long sleeve-like things she wears near the end was my personal favourite. The other ladies also looked really top-notch -- Miranda gets Most Improved, Samantha was rocking it, and Charlotte looked Park Avenue classy throughout.

I was disappointed that the way love was expressed by purchasing expensive crap. The closet was supposed to be a grand romantic gesture - but the scene with them reading in bed was a thousand times sweeter. The endless close-ups of designer labels and tissue-paper wrapped goods seemed soulless, a warped view of love as a money-based transaction. Carrie and co seemed to have confused "can't live without each other love" with ads in fashion mags and it doesn't wear well. It's 2008! Modern women know that consumption for the sake of consumption is pathetic and what's sexy and cool nowadays is living green.
(And that purse Carrie gave was repellently fugly. If it wasn't made by a fancy designer, no one would carry that atrocity.)
It seemed that the movie's message was screwing up is bad but refusing to forgive is even worse. That's what Carrie learned from Miranda. Whereas the TV show was more about - if a guy doesn't treat you well, move on b/c being single can be much more fun.
I was totally touched by the bridge scene and also when Samantha fed Carrie in Mexico - I love seeing these women take care of each other.

Oh, man- yes, it was awful. If she was going to get her a designer bag, why not a classic? And the whole Louise/St Louis/Louis Vuitton stuff grated.
The ending (can't be bothered to spoiler, so I'm keeping it vague) I didn't like, as in I still don't believe that this is a happy ending in the long run. Having said that: It made perfect sense for me in terms of the Carrie character. I buy that the character would make that choice and act that way.
I loved the New Year's scene. The music, the gesture... and Smith and Samantha's matching sequined robes.

Going back a page, Carrie did get married in her dream dress - she saw the vintage suit and "knew that was the dress [she] was supposed to marry Big in." She seemed to start off wanting a fairly small, simple wedding, but it all went off the rails once she accepted the gown.
Does Carrie have any family? The show indicated an absent father, but have we ever met her mother or any siblings?

I'm possible the last gay man to have done this, but I finally just got back from seeing it and liked it, too. It seemed like one very long episode, but had some good stuff in it. I adore Cynthia Nixon so I thought she was fabulous, and seemed the real heart of the story. Carrie and Big ended up where they are, because that will be their life. Shallow and self-absorbing.
But for me the fashion was very eye of the beholder. There were few outfits I really liked, and most, on all the ladies, looked waaaay over the top.
But I enjoyed, and since I'm from St. Louis, loved that whole part. However, I can totally understand all the spoiled complaints above about the film. It entertained me, and that was what I was expecting.

I loved the scene when Standford handed Carrie his iPhone and and she looked at it and said, " I don't know what this is" and handed it back. There were little moments in the movie I really loved. I'll probably see it again.

I never thought Jason Lewis was that hot to begin with, but geez, he looked like shit in this movie. It seemed like he could barely open his eyes, the hair was awful, and his face looked all weird and waxy. Gross.
Overall I thought the movie was just okay. It's definitely something I could rewatch on rainy days, but nowhere near as good as the series. It was just nice to see everyone again. I thought Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis were amazing (especially, as others have already pointed out, the scene where Charlotte yells "NO!" at Big).
