Just chiming in to say that I can't wait to see this movie, if only to be able to come back to this thread and read the spoilers!

I saw it tonight and loved it! Some of the dialogue was stilted, but I found myself laughing out loud much more than I usually do in movies. I teared up in a few places as well. It was very long, but I was entertained throughout, so it didn't bother me.
I really hope they do another one.
"I'm an emotional cutter." Hee. I don't know why that line got me, but I just couldn't stop laughing.

Oh my God, I felt like I was watching the whole Lord of the Rings trilogy at once. There was so much stuff happening. I really wasn't ready for how long it was, at all. I thought it was going to END with <<Big and Carrie's wedding.>> Little did I know that was just the mid-point...
That said, I can't think of any parts I would cut out. Except for some of the endless Carrie/SJP wish-fulfillment sequences. That was always my least favorite aspect of the show... I mean hey, I like fashion porn as much as the next person, but <<having a Vogue photoshoot bring on your big existential crisis, it's like, can I have Carrie Bradshaw's problems please??>>

I too loved when Charlotte was being so fiercly protective of Carrie and yet still being so Charlotte, having to run to the other side of the limo in tiny Charlotte steps in that awesome dress. Also loved the sequence where Carrie was in the dark and the girls kept coming in to check on her, ending with the best: Samantha feeding her. I know someone mentioned upthread that they didn't like how the movie went so far into her despair but I loved it for that very reason.
And the Miranda/Steve bridge scene was wonderfully acted.
Wasn't crazy about the ending, though. Those who ignore the past are doomed to repeat it and all that.

This is going to sound really odd, but ... aside from any plot weaknesses in the movie, was I the only one who noticed a boom mike directly in the shot for a number of scenes? I mean, not just a little whiff of one, but a BIG HONKING boom mike in the shots? I just hadn't seen it mentioned elsewhere. I'm hoping I was mistaken, but I can't imagine what else (lamp? mobile?) I might have mistaken for one. And it showed up more than once!

Has to do with screening it in the right aspect ratio or something like.

forever1267, I'm from St. Louis. When Jennifer Hudson's character said she was from STL, the whole theatre cheered. HA.
I absolutely, totally, agree with this, and this was my big bitch of the film:

I didn't care as much for Carrie's resolution either. I was much more pleased by Samantha's resolution.
Of course, I've always liked Samantha much better than Carrie. I don't know that I could have a friend like Carrie. She would annoy me to no end. I would take Charlotte over her, even though I don't have much in common with her character either.
