Am I the only one who likes Carrie and Big together? No, I like them together too. Intellectually I know that their kind of relationship shouldn't be glorified and held up as some super romantic model but, agh, watching them on screen I always find myself rooting for them!

I will be pissed if they kill off Samantha; kill off Carrie instead!

I will be pissed if they kill off Samantha; kill off Carrie instead! But then how will you have all of the scenes of Miranda and Charlotte comforting Carrie at her funeral? (Small voice) I like Carrie but this joke was too easy to pass up.

, Sadie! Am I the only one who likes Carrie and Big together? I don't dislike either one of them, but feel that they deserve each other.

I didn't like Carrie WITH Big. I liked both characters, but Carrie was whiny, and needy, and doormatty with Big. I don't think she ever seemed comfortable - she always felt insecure.
Until they made Aidan doormatty too, I thought that was the most realistic relationship. Carrie and Big never even lived together during the series. I always imagined that Carrie would be constantly jealous and miserable with him.
That's why I hated the ending. Big finally decides to come to Carrie? And she gleefully accepts the word of the guy who backed out on her a zillion times? AND he freaks before the wedding. Why would someone as supposedly strong as Carrie keep falling for it? One of my favorite moments in the series is when Miranda lets her have it for meeting Big again (when they fall into the lake). Of course the writers F'ed that one up by having Miranda apologize for it later.

See, I get all that. I get the criticisms that Carrie was totally self-absorbed and whiny - she totally was- and her relationship with Big was beyond dysfunctional. In real life, I would run a mile from a guy like Big.
And it was totally unrealistic for three girlfriends to continually subjugate themselves to the concerns of only one of them. But, I guess, I expected the show to be like that. Realism, not their strong suit. Samantha was my favorite character, and she pretty cartoonish at times. But I think in a comedy, "cartoonish" is OK, and sometimes even desirable.

I thought that the Big/Carrie relationship was total wish fulfillment for anyone who has ever been in a relationship with a commitment-phobe (which most of us have).

I like Carrie and Big together. I don't think anyone else would put up with Carrie's insecure, self-absorbed, materialistic self, and I don't think anyone else would put up with Big's insecure, commitment-phobe, selfish self. They totally deserve each other and he has enough money to help support Carrie's overspending habits and they both smoke. So it works.

I don't know why the writers had Miranda apologize to her because Carrie deserved that lashing, as far as I'm concerned. I think that Miranda has been the most interesting character in that series as far as development over the duration of the show's run. ETA: I like Samantha too. The writers had better not kill off her character.
