This has the potential to be cool, I think. But doesn't the guy cast as Kirk seem way too young?

It's either going to rock, or be a complete abomination. In any case I admire the willingness to do a complete departure. Very excited about Cho, Quinto and Bana.

The casting seems screwy. If I have to look at someone, I'm looking at Karl Urban and Eric Bana. The others look like children next to them.
I agree with mutagen about it being either a hit or a flop. There definitely won't be any in-between. Too much hype.

At another message board I go to, some people are having kittens because Simon "Shaun of the Dead" Pegg is playing Mr. Scott. Now, I love me some Simon Pegg, but I just don't see him in that role. However, What's-His-Name Doonan was Canadian, and not Scottish, so I guess the casting agents are being consistent.

Yeah, as much as I love Simon Pegg I have some trepidation about that too. I don't know if he can do serious so I'm afraid they're either going campy with this or he's just going to stick out like a sore thumb.

Harold is Sulu! Funny casting but good for John Cho. And an unknown playing Kirk? Man, talk about filling out some big shoes...
Eric Bana should be great as the villain. And they can use his big ears to effect by adding prosthetics to make them look even bigger!
