I am not a fan of TOS or any Star Trek series but I effin' loved this movie. Quinto and Pine were the absolute highlights but i loved Karl Urban who has been my boyfriend since Xena. I want to see it again but alas, saving my money for Terminator: Salvation.
Anton Yelchin has a busy couple of weeks; he plays young Kyle Reese in TS. He's adorable.

What a great inside joke! I bet Shatner is even more annoyed with the movie now.

Loved, loved, loved this movie. I've seen it twice already, and I'm probably going again in a few days. I loved it so much I actually refuse to hear any criticism of it whatsoever; one of my friends was commenting about how she didn't really care for Scotty's little alien friend, that it was a little too slapsticky for her tastes, and I was just like, LALALA SHUT UP IT'S PERFECT.
I've never been a huge Michael Giacchino fan with regards to Lost, but I am kind of obsessed with the soundtrack, especially "Enterprising Young Men." I didn't think there was any way to write a new ST theme that would stand up to the classic Alexander Courage one, but Giacchino did a pretty damned good job.

Wow, he really hit the jackpot for summer movie roles! I have to say, this movie is just as good the second time around. It goes by so quickly, never has draggy spots, but at the same time has enough quiet moments between the explodey parts.

I liked this movie, but Chris Pine didn't add much to it. Any actor who looked like him could have pulled off the role just the same. He just wasn't a stand out to me.

As much as I would love this to be true I have a feeling it's not. I don't think Shatner's inability or refusal to pronounce sabotage correctly is one of those things Star Trek fans still discuss. My guess is JJ thought the song simply fit the moment really well (hey look what happened to the car!) and decided to use it. I don't think using "Sabotage" is really that strange. Star Trek has made plenty of references to other pieces of Earth's culture such as Shakespeare, Sherlock Holmes, and Einstein. If Picard can listen to Beethoven, music that would be really ancient by the time we reach the TNG timeline, surely our more modern music can survive! I find it much more likely that Kirk, even TOS Kirk, would listen to The Beastie Boys than Beethoven. And you know Bones listened to "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" and "Friends in Low Places" after the divorce! Now, Spock he's your Beethoven listener!

I have never seen a movie twice in a theater. But I'm going back tomorrow. It was that good. I can't wait for this to come out on DVD, for all the extras.

I have this mental image of Bones drunkenly slurring along to "Friends in Low Places" and it. is. AWESOME.

Man, I know! I'm not one to normally pay extra for all the extra extras (you know cheap DVD will have movie and maybe a gag reel while the more expensive DVD will have a ton of extras) but I will happily pay extra money in this case! I hope there is a gag reel because gag reels are awesome and the whole cast keeps on talking about the pranks that were pulled on set. Hehehehe! I have achieved my goal! JJ responds to fan theories. He addresses the "Sabotage" theory and sorry guys he confirms what I suspected- he dug the song and was not aware of Shatner's refusal to say sabotage correctly. Though he adds he really wishes he could say that's why he went with the song!

I figured that was a long shot, just that it would have been extra awesome if true.
