Yet another list of what the sequel should and should not do. I agree with most of the list. But JJ and company if you read the list ignore the #3. Don't create a Spock/Uhura/Kirk love triangle. It was pretty annoying in X-Men and it would pretty annoying in Star Trek. If you want Kirk to have a love interest fine but create a new one. Plus, how can Spock and Kirk form a solid friendship if they are both lusting after the same woman?

No freaking love triangles. NO! Give Uhura more to do than smooch Spock, for God's sake. Also, make the next film a bit more of an ensemble piece.

I can't even think ahead to the next one.... I feel like I'll jinx it somehow. Plus, I'm still feeling some residual giddiness over this one... No energy for sequel pondering (yet)!

I made a special trip to Burger King, and they were out of Spock glasses. What the hell, Burger King.
I really, really hope they don't go the love triangle route. That's just so utterly predictable, and I don't care if STXI is part of an alternate universe or not, Kirk and Spock just wouldn't do that kind of thing.

I have this mental image of Bones drunkenly slurring along to "Friends in Low Places" and it. is. AWESOME. Don't forget "Crazy" by Patsy Cline. Bones was always my favorite character, and Urban did a great job. McCoy crabbiness made him awesome; you could tell he cares fiercely for people, but whenever the utopian vibe of the franchise gets a bit too precious, he keeps everybody grounded. I'm still trying to come down from the high of seeing this, so I'll be back later with more coherent squeeing...

I've seen it twice now and I have volunteered to accompany any of my friends who haven't seen and need someone to go with.
When is the dvd release date?

I saw it twice too and I'm making my dad see it with me again when I go home next week. I'm so pre-ordering the DVD the second it hits Amazon.
And I didn't notice the lens flares the first time I saw it, then I read about how many there were and when I saw it the second time that was like all I could see were lens flares.

Based on general DVD release patterns, I would imagine Star Trek will come out in DVD in early October. As point of reference, Iron Man also from Paramount and released theatrically in early May came out on DVD on September 30.

Saw it for the second time last night (with a bunch of people who hadn't seen it before), and it as good as the first time. But my god, Abrams does love the lens flares!
