I think I am the only person in America, hell maybe even the world, who has yet to read these books. No, you're not. I haven't read them either. My sister is here visiting me for the week and she's trying to get me to read Twilight, but I won't do it. I'd like to tell her I just have really high standards for my reading material, but she already found my Jackie Susann stash, so that's not going to work. Marching Penguin, LOL at Edward/Tom Cruise. Does Bella bake cupcakes, by any chance?

I haven't read them either, and I'm a librarian so it's even harder to avoid them. Thank God I'm not a young adult librarian or I'd feel like I had to read them.

I've only skimmed the first one. They're an awesome love/hate issue in our Kiddie Lit community, though!
I probably will read them eventually, but I'll be honest... I don't want to read anything that stupid when I'm trying to write something at least a LITTLE not-stupid!

So far....not impressed. I'm starting chapter ten tomorrow and absolutely NOTHING has happened so far. I find my mind starting to wander and I end up just skimming some of the pages.
It's not bad it's just plain boring. I even took a quick peak at the last few pages and nothing much seems to be happening then either.
It also doesn't help that the book keeps harping on Edward being so beautiful and so flawless. I keep picturing Robert Pattinson in my mind and I don't find him beautiful or even attractive.

I HAVE READ ALL FOUR BOOKS IN THE SERIES, MUAH HA HA!!!! I can't help it, really, there are just some things in this world that I love to hate, as opposed to simply hating. Twilight is one such thing. I don't think it's negatively affected my mental stability all that much. *twitches*

I just started the third book. Almost there. Please god, almost there.
Why the HELL did Bella tell Charlie that she had an extra ticket to go to Phoenix? Well, technically Edward did it -- but then, why were they so STUPID to do so? All she had to do was say, "Hey Dad, Edward's parents bought me a ticket to go visit Mom for my birthday, so I'm going this weekend!" Duh. It's not like he had to know Edward was going too. Dumbasses.
And dude wants to eat POLAR BEARS. Hello -aren't they endangered?
(Although I keep being reminded, Wuthering Heights IS one classic I haven't read, so maybe I'll try that one after I'm done with this crap. Plus it's supposed to be dark and hateful.)

It's been five days and I'm still stuck on chapter 10.
I honestly don't think I'm going to finish this book. When I want my vampire fix I'll just watch one of my Buffy DVD's.

Question -- okay, so Jacob "imprints" on Renesme. But like, she's immortal, so when he eventually dies, she's all alone, and probably going to be morbidly depressed for the rest of her life. WTF?
Unless you can create a vampire/wolf hybrid. (Which would actually be kind of cool)
I hate to confess though that I find Peter Facinelli VERY sexy.

Hee, I've been watching my Buffy DVDs for a few days now, ever since watching that Buffy vs. Edward mashup Guinastasia posted in the Twilight movie thread.
I'd read a book about Renesme coming of age that acknowledges how creepy and gross it is to betrothe (is that a verb?) a toddler, and deals with her trying to escape her dysfunctional family and arranged marriage with a creeper almost twenty years her senior. Seriously, what if she grows up considering him her nice uncle and doesn't WANT to have a romantic relationship with him? Someone should do a The Wind Done Gone-style unauthorized sequel (except one that doesn't suck).
