Really? From the synopsis, The Hunger Games just sounds like an American version of Battle Royale. I think I'm sick of post-apocalyptic dystopian stories. More dystopian, but less post-apocalyptic, plz.

I'll second The Hunger Games love! Even a moron like Meyers is bound to be right about a novel every now and then!
You know I never really noticed the fact it's post-apocalyptic. Maybe because of the sci-fi elements of the story. It's definitely dystopian and can also be seen as a commentary on desensitized people have become. The author did say she got the idea for The Hunger Games from observing people reacting with glee when twisted things happened to reality show contestants.

So I read The Hunger Games based on the raves in this thread, and I really enjoyed it. Thanks, guys! Can't wait for the sequel. I've been reading background on how Stephenie Meyer got her book deal, and I'm pretty impressed. It frankly sounded like a lot of dumb luck, and stars aligning all at the right time. I did laugh when she talked about how Google was a vital research tool for her. We can tell, Steph.

So I'm ALMOST done with Breaking Dawn (which is a good thing since it's due tomorrow!) Spoiler: And they're talking about fighting the Volturi, and Edward says, "Demetri is mine". He says he's doing it for Alice. "It's the only thanks I can give her now for the last fifty years." Huh? I'm completely confused what this has to do with Alice. What did Demetri do to her? I must have missed something.

No, this is someone else. This person is an author who claims her book has similar plot points as Breaking Dawn and has word-by-word similarities.

Is this the strongest part of the case? Meyer's not half the writer she thinks she is, but come on...

Has this author ever been to England? Isn't it common to call someone, "love"?

Can someone please tell me though what the hell Demetri did to Alice, that Edward had to avenge?
