Ohhhh, no wonder I couldn't get on last night. Dammit. Aren't there other sites that are more interesting to bomb than LJ? I could see trying to tear it up in 1998 or something... A friend told me there are a couple of political blogs that are hosted on the same servers as LJ. So, the hackers are going after them. We're just caught up in the wake.

That makes more sense, then. Whenever this would happen, I always thought, "LJ? REALLY?" haha.

Has anybody been over to Lainey Gossip lately? She's rotated in some other writers and imo it's been with mixed results. Adding Sasha Finds and Sasha Answers has been awesome. Carpets and Candids is great b/c I can avoid all the red carpet stuff I don't care about. Duana's name-nazi shit sucks but I love her recaps. Maria seems like she is trying to be Cool Mom whose friends don't have kids so she must out do them in disdain for all things children. I get why Lainey felt the need to provide a voice for parents but Maria really misses the target. Dean is new(er) as well but he seems superfluous. Hayley's fitness stuff fails to capture my attention. Last but not least, Sarah. Ugh. Her own website sucks so it should come as no surprise that her articles are dull. She's fangirly and I can only take her in small doses. Like on livechats. Speaking of which whatever happened to those? I'd trade Dean, Maria, Hayley, and Sarah all for more Thursday livechats. What gives?

It's now been over two weeks since I first got a malware warning when going to ONTD's main page. TWOP's availability has been on and off but at least it's been discussed after the first day of the warnings. Does anyone know what's been going on with ONTD? I can only find a "site access issues" link to ONTD itself from the 4th.

Huh. I am not having any issues with ONTD, though I have a LiveJournal account, so I don't access the comm from its main page, but rather my feed. Is this the post you're talking about? I also see a bunch of people talking about Malware warnings in a post dated 2.17.

I also see a bunch of people talking about Malware warnings in a post dated 2.17. That's the post, but maybe a feed is the way around the issue. Ages ago I removed ONTD from my LJ watch because it had so many posts that they overwhelmed the rest and checking the main page for interesting topics seemed more convenient. After reading your post I added it back and at least now my ONTD-heavy Friends page is opening fine, if a bit more slowly than usual probably thanks to the all the photos. If there was still malware talk on the 17th, I'll avoid opening the posts for commenting until Firefox says the main page is OK - I'm guessing that the malware is in the ads which I don't get on my Friends page, and though I'm mostly ignorant about computers and can't be sure I don't think I recall hearing that ad malware would infect photos hosted on a site, just the computers of those who visit.

If you're worried about ONTD swamping your feed, you can also arrange comms/journals by groups and then sort your friends page to show the journals you would rather read at the moment. Or just toggle between "communities" and "journals." I have things sorted so I can filter things by categories such as "recipes," "college friends," "pop culture," etc. which can make LJ a lot more manageable if you belong to a few BIG comms like I do.

I've never tried arranging LJ groups, but I'll have to have a look at it. Thanks for the advice!
