I was surprised too. I guess the lure of the spotlight is enough for anyone to change their eating and exercise habits. If Kelly Osborne did it...

Not a gossip site, but a bitch about the app based Huffington Post changes. They used to have side bars with junk stuff. The "front page" was real news, but you could check out celeb crap if you wanted. Now everything is equal, and gets a a big banner.
LEAK CRACKDOWN!
CRAZY KITCHEN NIGHTMARE COUPLE ON TWITTER!
MILEY SHOWS SIDEBOOB!
CUTTING SOCIAL SECURITY AND NOT TAXING CORPORATIONS!
XTINA NEARLY NUDE!
TOPLESS PROTESTERS AT BARBIE HOUSE!
NEW IRS CHEF ANNOUNCED!
shit.... Actually, they used to put the stories in an order, Big breaking, national, political, international, business, etc and lastly, the sideboob, gossip, titillation, and finally the one about the college student who died leaving his parents to pay his student loans. (That one was on the front page for MONTHS).
Arianna Huffington sold out, but I don't want to sift through sideboob stories to find out what is happening with a trade bill.

I am dying that Dlisted comments are still down. At least the site is still up. Can't do without Micheal K for too long.

I can't get DListed at all... what did he do, piss off his provider? He moved to another platform and it isn't working that well. Hopefully, the bugs will be worked out soon.

I got to go to LaineyGossip's Faculty of Celebrity Studies session in Vancouver this weekend. So much fun to discuss the broader implications of gossip and our reactions to it. It was excellent fun.

I find Lainey very confusing. I used to love her site back in the day. Now, she seems more into promoting her tv show (?) and books/products with very little gossip content anymore. Then when there is some celebrity content it's so clear that she's being paid to promote certain people and her fawning is embarrassing.
Although I do love when she tackles the business of celebrity and publicity. Her columns about the Kristen Bell paparazzi hypocrisy and Beyoncé elevatorgate were spot on.
There are very few blogs or columnists that I run to when something major happens for their take on it. Where did all the good gossip columnists go?

I was really disappointed I missed Lainey on the UES when she toured with her book b/c her gossip sessions sound wonderful. I will say that all The Social/Squwaking Chicken promo had gotten in the way of her great blinds/gossip. I love how often she hits the whole People Magazine/Suburban Ideals sociology. That's the best part of the site. I wish they still did the live chats. Sarah, the sci-fi expert used to piss off the other commentators something fierce. Also the baby name bullshit/fitness tips has got to go. And as for the stars she is clearly promoting (nobody, not even 2008 Robert Pattinson, likes Kristen Stewart that much, unless they are getting bankrolled), I wouldn't mind it if she offset it with more of her delicious blind riddles. Basically she needs to commit to more juicy gossip cuz what she's given isn't enough in light of the fact that she has other interests to promote. Girl nobody cares, just solve some damn riddles.

What's going on at Jezebel? I know it and Gawker are not gossip sites, but I didn't want to start a new thread, and this is closest...
Anyway, I know there is something about Gawker for guys and Jez for women, and people are getting let go, but the rout that happened yesterday is eughhhhh!
Kitchenette is gone, C.A. Pinkham is gone, and a whole shitload of writers sent their goodbyes yesterday. Anyone with some insight? Behind Closed Ovens was my crack for the past year, and (being out of it) I just read what could only be described as the end of the year best stories post, only to find it is the End of Kitchenette post.

Gawker decided they wanted to be more "political" and less "gossip." C.A. Pinkham is moving over to Wonkette, where Behind Closed Ovens will be appearing at the usual day and time.
I guess they're still trying to recover from the asswhooping they got for outing/participating in blackmailing a non-public figure.
