Speaking of ice...
Has anyone had a chance to try out the one-pint ice cream makers that seem to be everywhere now? I was thinking this would be a great gift for my brother-in-law and his wife, for ds1 and her beau, and a few other friends and family members--please share your experience if you have used one...thanks!

I know Chik Fil A is problematic BUT you can buy bags of their nugget ice to bring home. And they’re big bags! I don’t have a Chick-fil-A anywhere near me, but Sonic and Raising Cane’s also sell their awesome ice by the bag! So that’s usually what I grab for my dad.

Has anyone ever bought clothes from SHEIN? I am going to a concert next month and I want to wear something with butterflies on it, but all I'm finding is stuff from SHEIN. The prices are so cheap I'm wondering about the quality. This is one that I really like.

For instance i'm 5'2 and 130 and I have had stuff come in for a size medium that my 70lbs 7 year old looked like a stuffed sausage in.

Medium piece about how awful Shein is.

Are you all experiencing a lot of “specific item” food shortages in your areas? Like, not that the shelves are cleared out, but just seeing availability holes of specific items that you want?
For me, the shortages have been off and on during the whole pandemic, but have been especially bad for about a month. As a caffeine addict, diet iced teas (my first choice) and premade iced coffee drinks (my second) have been pretty hard-to-impossible to come by (but if you want full sugar iced tea, have at it). I also like Baked Lays chips and low fat Ritz crackers, and I haven’t been able to get those at all for several weeks. At the grocery store that I buy from, there has also been an inexplicable shortage of frozen peas since the start of the pandemic: I don’t know what that is about. And then sometimes I’ll get an idea for something that sounds good, only to find that they’re out of it (like frozen dumplings that I just had a taste for, or really most kinds of frozen breakfast foods in the flavors I like). Maybe I just get my groceries on the wrong day of the week to get the best shot at stock. I do usually get them on a weekend, although I encountered the same shortages last Thursday afternoon, too.

Beans and lentils are the foundation of my diet so I am just not glad they are in short supply. At the beginning of the pandemic everybody cleared out all the canned and dried beans and most stores limited the number of cans you could by, so it was difficult times for yours truly. I hoard cans of garbanzo beans now like other people hoard toilet paper.
So I drive a small car that has been great, is paid off, and I was planning on driving until the wheels fell off. Since I have worked from home since the pandemic started I don't drive much anymore and have discovered that I am a much more nervous driver now. Except for when I'm on the interstate, where I'm borderline panic attack. I feel really vulnerable being in a small car since 18-wheelers can blow me to the side when they fly past. And everyone drives like maniacs it seems. So last week I dipped my toe into the new car market. I knew cars were in short supply but I hadn't paid much attention. Everybody now is asking waaay over MSRP. I contacted a dealer in another city who advertised MSRP on their website to discover that they required you to buy an accessories package that would bring the cost up over $6000! I'm going to keep my eye on the car scene but I basically tiptoed out of the market as soon as tiptoed in. But until I can get a bigger car I think I will rent something when I have to go out of town. It makes my sad. My car has been really dependable and is perfectly fine for driving around town.

Car dealers definitely have the upper hand these days. When I took my car in for service to the dealership last October, I made an offhand remark to the service agent that I really need to prioritize getting a new car (since my car is getting old enough that I don’t trust it for long car trips). He told me good luck with that if I wanted one then, since they only had 2 new cars available for sale on their entire lot at the time (a large dealership in a city).
I’m sorry you have that kind of anxiety when you drive. That must be very stressful.

No one wants the Nacho or Tabasco flavored ones!

This is a very specific post…. So when I work out at home, which is the majority of what I do, I do mostly cardio kickboxing/HIIT-esque workouts. I do my workouts on the concrete basement floor, which isn’t great for my arthritic ankle or forever “bad” knee, but that’s what I have to work with. Eventually I’m going to get a huge rubber floor mat, but I’m not there yet. Anyway, I need new shoes for this. I have been wearing Reebok HIIT for a year and a half, and I think I need something with more cushion? I do lateral movements and some pivoting, so that’s something to consider. I have done a lot of research and it has led me nowhere. I see Nikes getting high reviews, but they always seem to have a caveat that they are not for wide-footed people, which has been my experience when I’ve tried them on. I myself have wide feet. Does anyone have any recommendations? I have a separate pair of running shoes, and great local running stores that can tailor to your exact needs, but nowhere that seems to employ anyone who knows about cross training shoes. I belong to a private FB group for a subscription workout website I use, and people’s numerous posts about their anxiety and personal stories seem to get dozens of responses, so I posed this question to them, thinking that people would have insight since we are all doing the same workouts. I got three responses. One said they were hesitant to make a recommendation, and another gleefully told me they work out barefoot. Anybody have any trainers they love?
