Switch to gmail. Gmail occasionally bugs me for my cellphone #, which I never give to email services, but it is only an occasional annoyance. I also have a Gmail account, but I use the hotmail for on-line purchasing/vendor dumping so my actual e-mail doesn't get clogged. After waiting on hold for 2+ hours, two e-mails and one text message finally came through with a code that worked. Who knows what happened to all the other ones I requested. Stupid Microsoft. . .

no reason why you can't have 2 gmail accounts. I have a public email and a private email account.

Very true, alpierce, but I've never had an issue like this before, I've had that hotmail account for over ten years. I don't really want to change every account attached to it (and there are tons since I shop on-line a lot). Hopefully, now that I've verified the account and reconfigured the security profile I will be good for another ten.

Windows 8.1 is out today for Windows 8 users.
I work with software all day long and I have to say, removing the start button was easily the worst decision that Microsoft has ever made. Glad they made the decision to give it (and booting directly to the desktop) back to us.
Edit: The "Start" button really isn't the traditional Windows Start button. It just takes you back to the tile screen. So, I fixed this by downloading the Start Menu Reviver. Bastards.

This may be a stupid question, but I don't have an iPhone, so I'm asking. Is there a way to turn off the sound for text and call alerts on an iPhone but still have sound on for the alarm? Batboy has an iPhone and I want him to start using the phone for an alarm (since he keeps falling back asleep after I wake him up) but he doesn't want the sound on for alerts (and neither do I) because otherwise his friends will keep him up all night.

Batmom, absolutely. The alarm plays with all other sounds off.
My phone is constantly set to vibrate only for alerts, calls and texts but the sound works on alarms. I just double checked to make sure too.

If you go into settings and then "sounds" you should be able to customize your device.

I think the alarm sound is always on, but of course you can customize the type of sound you want to hear. It will even work if the phone is turned off.

Thanks. Now we just have to get the goof to set it.
