I am tired of paying a cable bill. It keeps going up and I feel like I keep getting fewer channels. In my area, my choices are satellite, TimeWarner, or Windstream (which partners with Dish). I have my internet bundled currently and don't want multiple bills. At a NYE party last night, we were discussing cable and one of the guys had an Amazon Fire Stick. He was showing us how much stuff it had on it and I was impressed. I've been researching it some today and it looks like there are ways to watch some channels live.
Anyone have one that would like to share their experiences? Getting one would cut my TV/internet/phone bill by more than half.

I can speak about this second hand from my sister, but she LOVES the Amazon firestick. She can watch anything. Keep in mind my sister is very frugal and picky, so if she loves something it must be worth it!

I cut the cord years ago, and I haven't missed it at all. I prefer Roku to Amazon - mainly because they've been at it a lot longer and have always gotten great reviews. My first Roku box has lasted 6 years without any problems. I only got a new one because some of the new channels weren't compatable with the old version of Roku.
They've got lots of channels as well as plenty of private ones. I have Netflix, Hulu, CBS, Acorn, and Amazon, with that I basically see everything I want for about $40 a month. That's a lot less than cable and I have all the other perks that come with Amazon Prime. I'm not into sports at all so that's not an issue. I understand Sling has espn. From time to time there's something I want to see and I end up finding it bootleg online.

So I've been looking for a new computer for a bit now, and going back and forth on whether to buy a refurbished 2015 Mac, a new PC, or a new Mac. I finally compared today--and got a NEW Mac for about 200.00 more (going smaller) than the 2015 refurb. Same/better power and memory. But new features, better battery, and as my office uses PC's, I can keep up with both OS.

I'm due to make some of those same kind of decisions myself. Windows Vista is going the way of XP, and the hardware is aging anyway, but I HATE CHANGE!
