We're trying to keep my physically and visually impaired father entertained as he's pretty much housebound during the winter. He has a google home that he uses for music and I'd like to get it to play audio books for him. I'm at square I one with this idea and I don't have much in the way of google so don't really know where to start. Can I send him Audible.com books to play. Books from the library? Am I only limited to books from the google books collection? There is a lending library service. I will find the name for you. It is part of the Ntional Library Servicethey mail to you then you return by mail (I think the return process is postage paid). Return packaging is easy also.

thanks, MrsP. My ex's grandmother was part of that service and it was wonderful. Unfortunately my dad is in Canada and in an underserved community. He's on a waitlist for services from the local library and the Canadian Institute for the Blind, but in the meantime we would like to find him something to keep him entertained while we wait.

Is there something like Overdrive through your local library? You can download books that way, and it's pretty easy to use, but I'm not sure if someone with vision impairment could manage all the parts. I know it's in Canada but it might not be available locally. There's also librivox, which is free but might need some masterminding to get it set up (e.g., download the tracks and add them to an audio library). Another thing: if he's of a certain age, I've always wondered if podcasts would make an older person nostalgic for old-time radio programs.

I want to get one of those sleep mask / headphone combo thingies. Anyone have experience with them or recommendations? I'm getting lots of targeted ads but bad experience with buying from an ad has led to distrust. I already sleep with an eye mask and headphones but the combos look more comfortable.

Is anyone else having issues with MS Word lately? I saw someone on Twitter last night who opened hers for the first time in a while and it looked like MS WOrd 95 - even had Clippy down in the corner. Our admin just opened a label template that she's used many times and all the formatting has changed - different font, different spacing, no little lines for each label....is Mercury in retrograde again?

My friend is really interested in watching some CBC content but is geo-blocked. Can anyone recommend an extension for my friend so she can indulge during this truly difficult time? She already tried Stealthy for Firefox and it didn't work.

She already tried Stealthy for Firefox and it didn't work. I will be seeing what advice *your friend* gets. I would like to watch some Canadian Netflix and when I ask my 3 teenagers about changing my VPN they shrug their shoulders. WTH do I even have teens when they're so useless?
