I'm uncool and use Explorer. I have no complaints. Mr. Sleepy uses Opera exclusively and swears that Explorer sucks. I don;t like Opera at all, though.
Okay, here's a dumbum question: How do I make my wireless connection secure? I set up a wireless network thingy in my house, but I can't figure out how to make it secure. I don't really care if my neighbors can free-ride on my internet connection, but it occurs to me that this may pose some security risk. I followed the steps on the router manual and looked up some stuff online, but I still can't get it. Any ideas on a website I may have missed or something?
Does this pose a security risk?

I posted this to the "Addicted to CPMCOG" thread and was pointed here for a possible answer. Starting last week I was suddenly banned from this webite through Websense for being a "sex" site. I was wondering if each user (in this case, my workplace) determines their own "bad" sites or is Websense like a spyware blocker program where you can download updates to their predetermined sites. If anyone knows this I'd be really interested. Thanks!

Yeah, I'm not sure how/why but FF crashes for me quite a bit. I'm a web/pixel monkey and I often have several browsers with several tabs open in each. The issue has improved on upgrade though and I'd still recommend it over IE.
I still have to use IE for work purposes. I have a blow up punching bag in my office for this reason. IE sucks donkeys's balls. Dual box model? Arseclowns.

When you set up the wireless network, there was some software that you installed that should let you choose a WAP or WEP security sytem. You could also check, if using Windows, by looking at all the available wireless networks available to you. On that window it should say which ones are secure and which ones are not.

Sleepy, what brand of router are you using? If it's a Belkin, I might be able to help.

I have a couple of problems. I just bought a new laptop and I can't set my homepage to anything other than the Hewlett-Packard site. My second problem is that I recently switched internet providers and I was told that I could plug my laptop into any phone jacks around my apartment and get internet but I can't. That is especially aggravating because the whole point of getting a laptop is so I can use it anywhere. Any help?

Well, I would suggest wireless Internet, but that may not be an option for you. I got a router on sale from Future Shop at Christmas, but they're sort of expensive. I have wireless Internet for my laptop and it is eeeeeexcellent. Other than that I have no suggestions. Sorry.

Did you go into Tools and type the homepage you want in yourself under Internet Options after you cleared your Cookies and Files?
I don't know what it is like in Saskatchewan but in Alberta about 15 years ago the telephone company gave all of it's wiring to the public or more or less said it is no longer responsible for any of the telephone wiring. If it is the same in Saskabush whoever did the wiring in your apartment may not have it totally compatible with whatever company you are going through.

I'm using Firefox now, it's ok nothing to write home about.
But there is one strange thing, I used to be able to log on to the website Gardenweb.com and now it won't let me in. A gray alert box comes up saying: "The connection to auth.gardenweb.com has terminated unexpectedly. Some data may have been transferred."
I've tried going in under security and setting up the website as an allowed site but it didn't help.
I tried contacting Gardenweb directly and received no response.
Any ideas? Not that I even post on the site regularly, but of course now that I can't I want too.
