Kafka - those are really good. You're quite talented. Are you/did you have it matted and framed?

Aw, he's so pretty! Did he sit still for his portrait, or do you just have his lovely face memorized from gazing at him all the time? Maybe if you took the photo from slightly above (instead of below), his nose would look less elongated? But I think the painting is lovely.

I've been reading the pop culture part of the boards since they started, and just made it over here. No other scrapbookers here?

I haven't had it framed yet because I just finished it yesterday and the high gloss/varnish seems to be taking a while to dry, but I plan on doing so if it won't cost too much. His Highness has been an expensive child lately with his surgery and stuff last week, plus I also have two others I plan on doing of him. At the moment, I've started working on a version of the photo which is my Avatar. Did he sit still for his portrait, or do you just have his lovely face memorized from gazing at him all the time? A bit of both, but mostly the latter, Laconic. Endless worship pays off in the end. ;D Great tip. Thank you.

I love the details of the brush strokes Kafka. I have problem's making eyes seem more deep as well in my paintings, I think that is why I stick to landscapes anymore.

Ah, Kafka! I love him! You should definitely have him framed.
Maybe one day, I'll get up the nerve to post some of my art... the problem is, I do mixed media and I use my kids in almost all the artwork and for privacy reasons, it worries me to post online.
Maybe I'll post some stuff I did before the kids came aboard.

I finally had my sewing class to teach me how to use my new sewing machine. As soon as I have some more time to practice on remnant fabric, I'm going to be able to start a project.
I am a total novice seamstress. I decided that I was stagnating and that I needed to learn something new. So I bought a sewing machine, and I'm going to learn how to sew. And then I will make pretty things. I think I will start with something that sounds easy like placemats or pillows.

Anyone here an astronomy geek? I could use some help in finding a telescope for my boyfriend. I had no idea they were so complex. I thought I found what I was going to buy but then I read somewhere that they're complete crap.

And then I will make pretty things. I think I will start with something that sounds easy like placemats or pillows. Simple totes, just two squares sewn together with some handles sewn on (and there are plenty of really easy patterns to be found online. Ask.com is pretty awesome, yahoo groups, etc. Anyhow those are so easy and rewarding to do and can easily be made out of cool remnants found at fabric stores or intersting clothing/linen found at thrift stores. My last project was a hobo type purse made out of a 60's era terry cloth kitchen towel with a fruit motiff. People loved it. ( I however put large handles on it that have an opening so it would be easier to sew -- and it meant that the handles kept coming off) but it was cute. Have fun!
