Aldi's 'German week' was recently, so I am eating orange Jaffa cakes and drinking coffee. It's been years since I bought Jaffa cakes. Thank goodness they are in 2 sleeves or I'd eat the whole box at one sitting instead of half the box. Are those German? I had seen them referenced on Zumbo's dessert show and thought they were Australian. I bought a box of them the last time I was up in Victoria, Canada (which will be awhile since Americans are still banned, sob!) Edited to add - also, topic. I had a turkey in the deep freeze that I bought on deep discount last January. Roasted it this weekend, then had hot turkey sandwiches for dinner last night, and turkey tetrazzini tonight. It's almost gone, I have three teens and they all love turkey.

It's actually the second meal, we had the first half on Sunday, and finished it tonight. It just gets better. Had a nice warm baguette on the side.

I though Jaffa cakes were an English thing- but Aldi has them for German week so I'm not arguing. And I'm currently thawing a turkey breast!

We had breakfast for dinner Sunday night. The pancake mix was AWFUL! The mixture was watery and never thickened. The pancakes were like crepes and stuck to the non-stick, greased pan. I read the box carefully because some mixtures call for an egg and oil and some are complete and just need water. I threw the whole box out. Now I want nice fluffy pancakes!! The brand was Hungry Jack, which I’ve never bought before but that was all the store had. Now I know why!

We obviously need the Euro contingent on here to tell us who owns Jaffa cakes.

I haven’t eaten cotton candy in decades, but ate it as a pre-debate snack this evening. I must have subconsciously known what a circus it would turn into.

Ok, weird but who knew?
We had an impromptu birthday party for MrF tonight, two weeks early. Just two friends for a little work and I made pizza party. They brought balloons and presents and chocolate cupcakes. I dipped my fork into the chocolate frosting, and it was salty! I put kosher salt on brownies, and after the surprise, I quite liked it! Then I got a kick of heat! I liked that too, but wth? I realized I was eating the cake with the fork I dipped in the pickled jalapeños for the pizza. So I guess my next chocolate cake will be made with chopped jalapeños and red hot pickled pepper brine.

I love salty/sweet/spicy combos, so that sounds intriguing!

Years ago I patronized a coffee shop that did an icy whipped mocha type thing but with spicy Mexican chocolate in it. It was SOOO good.
Adventures in grocery shopping online: I accidentally ordered a tub of salad greens that was WAY bigger than I expected. Salads for breakfast, lunch and dinner. With (Ina Garten voice) good tuna, tomatoes, potatoes and olives I'm like... almost 50% of the way to a nicoise salad. I feel fancy this week.
