I really didn't realize SVU was still on the air. I thought it got cancelled years ago. Yikes.

And just when you thought there weren't enough spin offs of L&O, there's now: Law & Order True Crime — The Menendez Murders.
I don't know if I should be curious or just shake my head.

I would like to re-submit my own Law & Order franchise--The Women of Law & Order: Bookclub edition. They can even be themselves, Epatha Merkerson, Kathryn Erbe, Leslie Hendrix, Tamara Tunie, Alana de la Garza, etc. just sitting around talking about the actual true crime books the series were based on. This could include the architect with multiple wives, Charles Sobhraj and the Menendez brothers, if they so chose. AND we can do a deep dive into 1990s NYC.
For some reason, Elisabeth Röhm's invitation always got lost.

I watched it last night and liked it. I'm kind of a geek for anything 'true crime' (even when liberties are taken) and adding in the late '80's nostalgia (blinking green computer cursors! shoulder pads! big hair!) is like someone said "here, we've created this show just for you."

I missed the train when the Menendez case initially happened. I was aware of it of course, but was never all that interested. I'm trying to think of what other case I might rather see a "Law & Order true crime" version of instead.... if they could handle it right, I might pick the Susan Smith case.

I watched the Menendez show too and liked it. I'm glad my curiosity won out and it's keeping me interested to keep watching. But you're right, scarlet, they were nailing the late 80s nostalgia on the head!

SVU is really running out of side storylines. Now they're coming after Olivia with claims of child abuse/neglect for Noah. Why? Because he (isn't he like 4 or 5?) said that a bruise on his arm was from him mom. FULL STOP. He never went into why, how or anything and no one cared to ask him. They just immediately called her out and said that she did it because she's overworked, stressed and because the child's biodad is dead. HUH?
I know that these cases can be tricky, but with an SVU Lieutenant has a clean jacket and was monitored during the entire time she fostered and then adopted Noah, I really don't think they should be going by a preschoolers/kindergartners account of events. Especially if he just says, "Oh, that's from my mom." and never get more details. Turns out it was because he and Olivia almost got hit by a taxi that ran a red light at a crosswalk and she grabbed Noah out of harms way. Now the school district or police? hired that smarmy ex-boyfriend of hers that always worked undercover to investigate. <sigh>
Kinda wish they'd either end the show or just focus on the cases instead of these main character side stories.
